hey everyone.. i was diagnosed with endometriosis about a year and a half ago. i'm 17 now. i have enlarged lymph nodes in my neck & chest, and there is a possibility it is lymphoma. i read on this website that endometriosis can cause more autoimmune diseases, and this was one on the list. has anyone experienced non-hodgkins lymphoma or it's symptoms? any help would be much appreciated! thank you!

hi, there. it's not so much that endometriosis causes autoimmune diseases, but that they are more likely to happen concomitantly. I think we've had one person who possibly had lymphoma. She hasn't logged-in for over a year now, though.
Good luck with everything! Are you getting biopsied soon?

Hi,
My paternal grandfather had non-hodgkins lymphoma in the form of a large lump in his neck (golf-ball sized). He had chemotherapy and made a full recovery and actually died 10 years later from something totally unrelated. I have read that endometriosis sufferers have a higher incidence of certain cancers (of which NHL is one) among first and second degree relatives.

I think it makes sense why we have higher probability of cancers and such. Our bodies don't attach endometrial tissue outside the womb like its supposed to. That's what happens with cancer too. A cell mutates and the other cells are supposed to kill it because it isn't right. Well our cells don't do their jobs like they are supposed to.
I was actually checked for this earlier this year. I have symptoms but not the lump, but it wasn't that, they actually have no idea what is wrong with me.

thanks for the replys. so i'm assuming it would be a good idea for the doctor who is checking my lymph nodes to know about the endometriosis?

he probably won't take much stock in it, but it is definitely part of your history/current history, so by all means tell him.
