Okay. I have been wondering something... more like pondering this thought for a few weeks now since my results of my US were given to me. And today when I was reading in the introductions Lainey said something that just made me "HAVE TO" ask. Apparently in September of 2006, when I had my US they saw a small fibroid tumor (didn't tell me about it until recently). I had another US a few weeks ago and they said this fibroid is gone. How can that be? Even the fill in doctor who told me that it existed when she was looking back in my files said that it will make me bleed and cramp up. She said that it will grow and ordered the next US (the one from a few weeks ago). So how is it that now it is not there? Or uh.. is this like my endometriosis, one lap yes you have it a second one and suddenly they say no you didn't have it, that isnt your problem?!?! So yea, I guess my question is, they cant just disappear can they? Maybe my regular GP just thinks it is insignificant and doesnt want to tell me.

Freaky. Like ghost lights or something! I'd gather all of your medical records you can and try to check out the US prints on file. If there is something growing in there, you should be able to see it yourself. I'd demand to see a film showing it and a film where it is next missing. I don't really know what to tell you.

Ah. Ask for the radiology reports and match them to the films!

Wow, that is weird! I have never heard of them just disappearing. From what they told me they are there, will not go away, and in my case they cannot be surgically removed because they are in the muscle wall, so they always check the size with US to make sure they aren't getting too big too fast. They do sometimes downplay or forget to tell us things. Once they called me about the results of my US and left a message saying "everything looks good". I was like what about the fibroids and they say "yeah they are still there and a little bigger" so don't say everything looks good. I have these big things that don't belong that are causing pain and bleeding! Another time the US tech said "well you know about the cysts but you look ok besides that" I did NOT know about the cysts but thanks for telling me every so tactfully! They aren't even supposed to say anything until the radiologist reads it but whatever. I would ABSOLUTELY request your requests and get to the bottom of it!

After reading your question nari i decided to google this..and after going through many sites i have not come across even the slightest hint that "fibriods" disappear or go away without treatment. I've taken this quote from a site : www.babycentre.co.uk/preconception/suspectingaproblem/fibroids/?_requestid=1162059Age also has a big part to play in the shrinking of fibriods since fibroids shrink with the onset of the menopause. I think u need definately need to dig deep for further info..could it be that they got it wrong and it's not a fibriod u have but something else ? and why did they not tell u when they found out ? If i were u i'd be asking these questions next time i came face to face with my gyno/doc !
