As some of you know from the exhaustion thread I am curious if you have any troubles with breathing. For me it is a daily feat, no matter where I am in my cycle. It is the worst after I exert myself by climbing stairs or carrying things etc. But I have also noticed the need to 'remember' to breathe when I am simply laying down. I have to take long deep breaths. In the shower as well, if I spend too much time with my arms up washing my hair I seem to lose my breath and I have to stop and consentrate on getting more oxygen cause I seem to get light headed very easily. I used to chalk it up as being beyond out of shape, but now I'm not so sure thats the case. I wonder if it truly is because the constant pain is so tiring that I don't need to run a marathon to feel breathless anymore. I haven't been able to find any conclusive evidence on my theory, but I would love to read about others experiences to see if this is something I should be mentioning when I see the specialist for the endo.

I doubt it is endo affecting your ability to breathe unless you have endo on/in your lungs. You'd probably experience reallllllllllly bad lung/breathing pain during your periods, though. A nurse told me once that when she was an E.R. nurse, there was a young lady who would come in every month like clockwork w/ one collapsed lung. After about half a year of this, they finally did exploratory surgery and found endo on one lung. Each month when the endo woudl break down and bleed, it would open a gap from where the implants had bled, and her lung would collapse!!!!
I chalk my trouble bleeding to my nose job, asthma, and just forgetting to breathe. I've had that problem where I forget to breathe and make a little notch-type noise (no better way to describe it) since I was little bitty. I don't think my endo has a thing to do w/ my breathing difficulties. No endo was found on either of my lungs during either of my laps.

I didn't quite mean that endo is causing it in the way I may have made it seem. Although I know the story you are talking about, I don't think I have it on my lungs.
I mean more in the sense that since my endo is what causes me the pain, exhaustion, and so many other things (too many to list) that maybe it is the root to this as well. I'm only thinking that cause my troubles breathing are feeling like more a branch of the exhaustion... like I forget to breathe cause I am just so tired - tired because the endo makes it difficult for me to do anything without feeling breathless.
Sorry if I caused confusion - I hope that makes a bit more sense : )

Ah. Then this probably should have stayed in the "Exhaustion" thread. That's okay, though. We can use it for pleural endometriosis (endo of the lungs).

Have you had your thyroid checked? One of my major symptoms when I had an over-active thyroid (before I was diagnosed) was shortness of breath. It was really bad and I got quite upset about it - especially when people told me I just needed to go to the gym!
Other symptoms I had included feeling sick in the mornings, not being able to get to sleep and being warm all the time- plus talking really fast! Although of course not everyone would have the same symptoms. might be worth getting your dr to do a quick test though, simple blood test is all.

Wow! Thanks for sharing that, scarlett! I never knew those could be symptoms of thyroid problems! Everything okay with you now?

Yes, thankfully Ouchy! I think it was because my thyroid was soooo overactive (off the charts apparently) and it was making my heart beat too fast which was causing the shortness of breath and my being too hot. I actually thought I was pregnant because I felt sick each morning too!! As soon as I got beata-blockers (sp?) my major symptoms went away and then I eventually got my thyroid sorted out after a while longer. Now I'm under-active.

Yeah when they eventually diagnosed it I did (I had to visit my gp 3 times even though the various symptoms screamed overactive even when I put them into a search engine!!) The technician who did my blood test called my dr and said 'get that patient in here immediately!' and my gp phoned me at work with meds ready and waiting for me that day! Anyway, sorry, I'm getting off the point of the thread.

Nah! Glad you posted this. I think we actually have a "Thyroid" thread, so it might be good to post your symptoms there, too!
