You might want to look at other threads - I think there is at least 1 in the General board - that discuss autoimmune diseases in relation to endo.

Since I can't get the search feature to work at this time, I'll go ahead an post here (and maybe lock this thread later).
I'm not sure about thyroid "nodules," but I know in PCOS, where the cysts are not from endometriosis and are really just eggs that grow and grow and never rupture/ovulate, there is a big connection to thyroid disorders, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, infertility, the list goes on and on. Connection to endo---not sure.

I have thyroid nodules - actually I have a "cold nodular goiter" which, to my understanding, is not directly related to endo or ovarian cysts but connected through the auto-immunity which is discussed in another thread. What kind of nodules do you have?

neverendo-
I just read your post about fertility and wanted to tell you what my doc told me about thyroid and fertility, but in the interest of keeping the threads straight, I thought I would post here. Also because I have thyroid issues, and do not yet know if I have fertility issues!
Anyway, when I was first diagnosed with Hashimotos thyroiditis and put on Synthroid (or the generic form of it) my doctor told me that it is often difficult to become pregnant with thyroid issues. BUT she was also VERY positive, and told me when I am ready to have a baby, we will have to plan for it.
I think it is a good idea to do some research if you have thyroid issues and are trying to become pregnant - at the time of my diagnosis, I was not thinking about fertility issues; my doctor brought them up on her own so it stood out to me as important.

Thank you!
Looking at my reports, my thyroid gland is around the upper limit of normal. My mother has hashimotos that is borderline for meds. My nodules are: * hypoechoic * both cystic & solid in nature * appearance favours benign colloid nodule. ... whatever that stuff means.
When I had my thyroid checked out I wasn't told anythiing about fertility, or that it could interefere with singing which I believe it has. The vast majority of what I learn hasn't come from any doctors. So, thank you for raising my awareness. I've been trying to do research but it's a real juggling act with the other stuff I'm trying to get done. Oh well.
I'm getting my thyroid checked out again next week, anyways.
Hope you have no probs getting ur bub when ur ready, Camille.

With regards to the thyroid and fertility issues, it can be difficult for women with thyroid conditions (hypo or hyper) to become pregnant or maintain a pregnancy. However, this issue can be overcome once the woman is properly medicated (although some thyroid medications can cause birth defects, so whenever a woman with a thyroid condition wants to get pregnant, she should see her doctor). It's a good idea in general to see your doctor before ttc anyway, and many doctors will (and should!) order testing of TSH (at the very least, if not also T4 and sometimes T3), rubella, HIV, etc.

neverendo- I don't remember what all that means either! did you have ct scans? thyroid uptakes? I just know that I have many nodules, they are small, and some are cold (which is what we don't want) but the surgeon decided to "wait and see" instead of doing a biopsy. Also, my goiter (ugh I hate that word) grows inward instead of out, so you can't see it but in essence, I am choking myself. Thanks for the reminder of all of this, I should have it checked again soon.

akcheryl - Thank you I don't know what TSH & T3 & T4 are camille - I had an ultrasound done and later an ultrasound guided needle biopsy. Not sure what the uptakes are. Next week I'll be getting an ultrasound and a blood test. I am thinking they will need to biopsy the nodule again but my GP didn't think it was necessary for some reason. I think I have 3 small nodules on both sides. Atleast my thyroid & ovaries are symmetrical Choking yourself doesn't sound like fun. Do you ever get the feeling like something is stuck in your throat and won't go down? Please do get yours checked again soon.
