I've noticed that many of us read when we want to relax. What is your favorite book or author?
Here's my very abriviated list: Anything by Tanya Huff Lamb by Christopher Moore Peter Pan The Narnia Series I also read almost anything on "pick Me"Shelf. Right now, I've just started Union Street by Pat Baker. It's sad and wonderfull all at the same time.

Wow, as a bookworm I find that a very difficult question to answer. Here are a few of my tops favorites:
Mister God, This is Anna by Fynn -- a very unknown book but it literally changed my life when I read it The entire Harry Potter series (these are my favorites for escaping my troubles--hey at least I don't have to battle the most evil wizard of all time) Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe by Fannie Flagg - if you liked the movie even a little bit you will LOVE the book. If you loved the movie, you'll think it's boring after you've read the book. Neverwhere, Coraline and Mirrormask by Neil Gaiman Annie on my Mind by Nancy Garden most anything by Torey Hayden, but especially One Child and Ghost Girl. I highly recommend this author to anyone who is a teacher. Madeleine L'engle's Wrinkle in Time series The Chronicles of Narnia, especially The Voyage of the Dawn Treader the Anguished English seris by Richard Lederer - those are the funniest books I've ever read The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut Possessing the Secret of Joy by Alice Walker
that seems like such a short list. There are so many books I love!

I have so many its hard to say favorite but the Catcher in the Rye hits it with me. Love it adnd read it once a year. Although my reading skills these days limit what I can read I still get a few novels in. Secret Life Of Bee's Lovely Bones Accidental Billonare Brideges of Madison County Nights in Rodanthe Most of the time when I start a book I finish is in a day or two but sometimes the book is so good I savor every page and I read slower so I can hold onto the book one me day. I did that with Loving Frank it is a love story about Frank Lyod Write it is so romantic. I fell in love with that book.

I'm a huge book nerd. Have been ever since I was little. I'm a Jodi Picoult fanatic lately. Nineteen Minutes, The Pact, Change of Heart, My Sister's Keeper and House Rules are great books by her. Pretty sure she has a new book coming out tomorrow that I am going to have to get my hands on.
Jennifer Lauck is another favorite writer of mine. She has a series of three memoirs that she has written which I adore. Blackbird, Still Waters, and now Found which I am reading right now.
Other favorite books are: The Glass Castle If I am Missing Or Dead Anything by Bret Easton Ellis...his stuff is pretty dark though My Friend Leonard The Unbareable Lightness of Being White Oleander

Oh I am so chageable that it depends entirely on my mood. I'm currently reading Sons and Lovers and besides the unreadable dialogue it is definitely going to stick in my head I can tell. I've never read a story about an Oedipal relationship and am fascinated to see how it plays out. An old favourite of mine is Jane Eyre. In fact I'm dying to re-read Frankenstein, they had us reading some great books in school! I read the Faraway Tree when I was 6, love Enid Blyton.

Haha Keri I've always felt I was as classy as a snickers bar you have just made my day! I think if I read Jane Eyre now I would be stuck, but having had it given to me age 14 when I was receptive to learning and eager to read everything I was lucky enough to take to the language so I love the classics. Takes a while for me to settle down to read one and I need a dictionary on hand but I like anything historical and being transported to a different time. I never finished Wolf Hall (about Henry VIIIs advisor Thomas Cromwell) or Generation Kill (recon marines at the start of the current Iraq war) but both were excellent books.
