btw please try not to get offended anyone by comments made in this thread, people can become very sensitive when it comes to these sorts of things. So lets all try and remember its open discussion and no one means any harm with anything. Its a peaceful forum, lets keep it that way Exactly. And again, I'd like to remind everyone that this is not to turn into a gun debate. Those are for gun forums, which this is not. There's no signs that this thread is turning in to that, but just a heads up.

Ah. No offense I'm a fairly openminded person. Can't speak for others.

Yah. I'm pretty open-minded, too. I just don't want any heated debates over some of the topics that could come up in this thread.

Of course. Understandable. Lots of debates could come out of this! Even one about the media...eh, but I'm too tired to debate :X

Here's one of the stupidest things I've ever heard: Fred Phelps’ Anti-Gay Group To Picket Virginia Tech Victim Funerals source: CBS News, April 19 The families of those killed in the Virginia Tech massacre may not be able to grieve in peace at the funerals of those they lost. An anti-gay religious group known for protesting at the funerals of American soldiers killed in Iraq is planning on appearing at services for those killed on Monday as well. The Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church (WBC), which is not affiliated with any national Baptist organization, announced plans to protest at victims’ funerals only hours after 32 people were killed in the worst mass shooting in U.S. history. They also may protest at other events on the Virginia Tech campus. The organization, founded and led by Fred Phelps, believes the United States has condemned itself to destruction by accepting homosexuality and other “sins of the flesh.” Phelps’ daughter, Shirley Phelps-Roper, said the Virginia Tech teachers and students who died on Monday brought their fate upon themselves by not being true Christians. “The evidence is they were not Christian. God does not do that to his servants,” Phelps-Roper said. “You don’t need to look any further for evidence those people are in hell.” Cho Seung-Hui, the Virginia Tech student responsible for the killings who took his own life after the shootings, was sent by God to punish those he killed, and America as a whole, for moral decline, said Phelps-Roper, while adding that she believes Cho is also in hell for violating God’s commandment to not kill. “He is in hell,” Phelps-Roper said. “But he was also fulfilling the word of God.” (continue reading at : www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/04/18/national/main2699800.shtml) I've never understood how anyone can picket a funeral, or for that matter how you can ever think someone deserved to be shot. One of the girls who was killed was from the city I live in, and she was a Christian like Mr. Phelps, though obviously not the same brand since she spent a lot of time helping people with projects like Habitat for Humanity, rather than trying to make people's lives miserable. I'm sure lots of good people were killed...I just hate the whole theory that bad things only happen to bad people. Fortunately extremists like Fred Phelps are very rare. It makes my blood boil every time I hear his name!

How utterly disrespectful and evil! The B.S. that came out of his mouth! He is likely to get a severe beatdown...and I can't say that I would try to stop it! I bet he has to attend his evil protests amongst crowds of bodyguards so he doesn't get the livin' BLEEEEEEP beat out of him!

Whatever these people believe is waiting for them at Judgement Day... they better prepare themselves for a nasty shock. They are utterly ridiculous. God, whatever God is, would not want this disrespect and general BS whilst using 'Christianity' as an excuse, or any other religion (jihad and kamikaze a*holes take note) And what a ridiculous self contradiction, CSH was sent by God to punish people and yet will be punished for punishing people. Hmm excuse me if I look away in embarrassment for these idiots. Anyone like that turned up to a funeral or memorial that I was attending, I would punch them on the nose. How dare they! xx

What a load of rubbish!!! How infuriating!!! For the obvious reasons, and also because some people are likely to lose respect for God/Christianity over rubbish like this, even though these protestors are clearly not in step with God. Argh!!

This is such a sad story. I'm shocked that the authorities did little to prevent this (especially after his "essays" of violence and death were reported, women were stalked, and a fire was set).
I'm sad for the Professor who lost his life saving his students! He is a hero, and should be celebrated as such!
The protestors are a complete other story! If I EVER see these people I will take them out....I hate anyone who uses their God as an excuse to hate! ARgh!
