I've recently been having my first very negative experience on e-bay! I'm no e-bay nut but I have bought several things and have always received positive feedback because I always pay very quickly. At the end of November I won an auction for a poster that I was very excited about. As soon as I won I filled out an invoice at the seller's request and sent a check. The seller was a bit annoying at first because she sent me an e-mail asking me to fill out an invoice a few days after I had done so, but that was minor enough. At the beginning of December the seller told me she had received my check and would be shipping soon. She also said she would leave me positive feedback for having paid promptly. Well, two weeks passed and nothing had happened. I hadn't gotten feedback, the item hadn't arrived, and for that matter the check had never been cashed. I sent a message asking if the poster had been shipped and the seller responded saying that it had been damaged and not shipped and that she had forgotten to tell me, but that she had just sent a refund through PayPal. Right after that I checked my bank statement and saw the check had been cashed the day AFTER I asked where my poster was--clearly she cashed it after deciding not to send the item! I freaked out at this point because I don't have a PayPal account, so this was impossible! I cancelled my account some time ago after my credit card number was stolen--it just made me uncomfortable that they were storing my card information online. I told the seller I did not have a PayPal account and she promised to send check or cash. I waited about a week without receiving anything, then sent a message asking if my refund had been sent. She said she had forgotten to send it but would send it the next day, and a few days later I received the proper amount of cash. I left negative feedback even though I had received the refund because I thought it was irresponsible to let the item get damaged before shipping it, and even worse that it took so much prodding from me to send a refund. If I hadn't sent her the initial e-mail asking if the poster had been shipped I don't think she ever would have bothered to tell me it wasn't coming! I felt bad about leaving the feedback because the seller has mostly positive feedback and I figured this sort of terrible transaction couldn't be her usual style, but I felt that it really was warranted in this case. Well today I looked at my feedback and discovered the seller had left me negative feedback in response! Not only that, but she stated in her feedback that she had, in fact, shipped the item which is untrue--I still have the e-mail where she told me it was never shipped! I think it is completely immature to leave feedback for feedback! Most sellers have left me feedback as soon as they got the payment--after all, my obligations were done then! My view of this seller has completely plummeted. How unprofessional do you have to be to give a customer negative feedback for not being satisfied? Of course I wasn't satisfied--I never got the thing I paid for and it took me over a month to get my money back! I am trying to get her to remove the feedback she left but I doubt she will unless I agree to remove what I left for her, which I won't do. I think future buyers have a right to know that the seller isn't always responsible. Maybe that's why her score is so good now--because she bullies people into removing negative feedback whenever they leave it! At any rate it won't work on me--I'd rather keep my undeserved negative feedback than give in to her childish tactics. If any of you who buy things on e-bay want to know the user name of this unprofessional seller I will be happy to give it to you so you can avoid the headache I'm dealing with!
