Hello: I have tried everything I can to feel better, some days I do and most of my days I don't. I changed my diet, exercise, meditation, detox, herbs, vitamins but it seem that when the pain is back it does not matter what I do. I'm so piss off and don't know what to do

Hi, Dinah. Have you tried Black Cohosh? It has helped me tremendously I was at my wits' end, and then I remembered the Black Cohosh from way back. Helped me tons and tons! My period was very light, only lasting 4 days, with the last 2 days being only spotting! Also, it was virtually pain-free. It may not work for everyone, but it sure did work for me! Way better than my b.c. pills did!

Dinah, for the last two nights I have felt exactly what you just said. Here I am thinking I'm doing all the right things (all the stuff you mentioned). Last month my period was better (but not pain-free). So I thought I was on the right track. But this month I think I would feel better having a train roll over my uterus. It's extremely frustrating, to say the least. I had to go ahead and take a pain killer. It's even making me reconsider my decision not to have a laparoscopy. Life really isn't supposed to be painful. I wasn't put on earth to feel like I want to jump out a window once a month. I feel like I've got my fair share of estrogen (and then some ) . So, I've been afraid to try phytoestrogens, (even though I've heard the reasons why it's supposed to be okay). But, ouchy, I think I'm going to try the Black Cohosh. My pain can't get much worse than it is this month. How much do you take? Which brand?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi, Meeka. I'm using it for the same reason anyone w/ endo uses the synthetic estrogen in birth control pills. I like Black Cohosh, though, because it is natural and doesn't have the side effects like b.c. pills. I'm using the cheap Wal-Mart brand called Spring Valley Black Cohosh Root. It seems to work for me just as well as the more expensive Soloray vitamin brand.
First day of period -day 7 I take one capsule. Days 8-9 I take two capsules. Days 10- 16 I take three capsules Days 17-20 I take two capsules Days 21-until start of period I take 3 capsules.
I take 3 capsules at most in a day, and I base how many I take in relation to my discharge and a table of estrogen surges during the menstrual cycle, These days and dosages I have listed above should cover through ovulation and the secondary estrogen spike during the luteal phase. I did it like this during my last cycle, and it worked great. Hope it will work for you. You may have to tweak it a bit, based on your own needs.

Thanks, ouchy.
Boy, that's a very strict schedule! I'm not so sure I can be that disciplined. Maybe I'll just take 2 or three every day. What do you think?
I'm glad to hear that the Wal-Mart brand works. I usually go for Solaray, or the other more expensive brands that my health store carries. A coworker told me she gets her evening primrose from Wal-Mart, and it works great for her. I've stayed away, but I'll try it. Saving a couple of bucks is a great spirit lifter.
About that table you use. Is it something available over the internet? I'm curious about my estrogen levels related to my pain.

Hi, Meka. It's not really a strict schedule; as you'll read in my previous post, I morph the dosages to fit w/ my discharge and biofeedback, and I also am using LH strips and saliva ovulation predictor to determine when ovulation occurs. The schedule I gave you is just a rough estimate to cover the estrogen surges. I can give you a link to what the estrogen levels are in a "regular" cycle. I'm just taking more (3 total) pills on certain days to try to prevent my body from making a lot of estrogen during peak times during the cycle. Judging from my periods now, I've been pretty successful, but everyone's body is different. You'll just have to see what works for you. Here is the link for the estrogen curves. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:MenstrualCycle.png . <--you'll probably have to cut and paste all of that, including the .png to get it to work. You can buy cheap ovulation test strips on ebay. I buy mine in packs of 40 LH (ovulation test) strips and 10 pregnancy tests. It's a combo pack. I buy them from Canada w/ $2.99 shipping! You could also buy one of those saliva ovulation microscopes. You can see the rise in estrogen levels by the salt crystals that form. Mine cost $25.00 I think. I guess the only real way to test your actual hormone levels throughout your cycle is to go to the doctor and request estradiol, progesterone, prolactin, FSH, LH, and quite a few other hormones checked via bloodwork. I'm not up for that right now. I'm just doing this as cheaply and with the least amount of pain as I can. I do know that taking estrogens--whether they be phytoestrogens or synthetic estrogens actually work as anti-estrogens as far as reducing our over-all estrogenic effect on our estrogen receptors. If this freaks out anyone, it is probably best to consult w/a naturopath or your gynecologist. I checked with both, so I feel safe in this. But I'm not recommending anyone do this without doctor's approval first.

Dinah--I'm sorry. I didn't mean for your post to go into a Black Cohosh thread. I already have a thread for Black Cohosh, so maybe I'll ask Carolyn to move the posts about it. sorry.
