Hi there - I am new; and I am amazed at this website. What a goldmine! Many of your comments have got my wheels spinning with some hopeful options. My quandry is this: I've battled endo for 24 years. I think my mother had it, but in her day it wasn't really recognized. I had a lap 16 years ago and I really do not want to do this again as I have terrible reactions to anesthesia. Also, there was no change for me in the pain department after this procedure. I have 2 endometriomas on my ovaries that cause me all sorts of grief, depending on the time of the month. I am inclined to do nothing and just monitor, but I have had cysts burst; and it is a very painful experience, as many of you know. Has anyone out there had success with shrinking these "chocolate cysts" on their ovaries with methods other than surgery? Thank you so much for your time, Michelle

Hi, eme! Welcome to the forum! Hope you'll stick around and join as a member If you had your last surgery 16 years ago, how do you know that you currently have chocolate cysts on your ovaries? Did they not get removed at the time? Did you have a recent ultrasound--and did your doctor explain the difference between chocolate cysts and ovarian cysts? I don't know much regarding the difference in appearance between the two on film. Please do a search re: shrinking the chocolate cysts. We have a thread referencing that exact thing. Welcome to the forum again! (NOTE TO OTHER POSTERS: So information is easier to find and since this section is for introductions only (not advice), please don't reply to the question on shrinking the chocolate cysts in this thread, unless it is to post a link to the proper thread in which to post. Thanks)

Hi Ouchy, The surgery 16 years ago was for extreme pelvic pain. The doc told me after the laparoscopy that I indeed had endo and that he got it all. But the pain persisted. I discovered my endometriomas (cysts) on my ovaries through an ultrasound 18 months ago. (My husband and I have been trying to get pregnant without any success.) They have since grown about twice as big. (I just had another ultrasound last week.) Yes, my doc explained the difference to me between the chocolate cysts (endometriomas) and the regular cysts on the ovaries. Thank you for the welcome. My membership is pending; I am so glad I found you guys. -eme P.S. Yes, I'll definitely post questions in the proper sections. I've also learned some things through the years that will perhaps help some women. Hi, eme! Welcome to the forum!
