I have been just dx with endo. Only by ultrasound in phys. office. I have chronic pain that runs from by hip all the way to my ankle. I also have chronic fatigue and shoulder pain. I do hurt during my period and sometimes bleed heavily and other times only spotty. I only bleed about every 2 to 3 months. My pain and fatigue is constant. I am taking Vicaton and usually end up taking 2 to help. I can not Lay on my right side where the pain is it backs it much worst. Are there other test for this? Has anyone had the sys toms I have? What did you do as far as treatment. I am very scared and very depressed. Any reply will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. Joann

Hi, Joann. Unfortunately, you might want to find another doctor. The ONLY way to make a definite endometriosis dx (diagnosis) is through surgery, usually a laparoscopy. If something abnormal was seen on the ultrasound, that doesn't mean that what was seen was endo. You probably want to find a gynecologist who specializes in gynecologic surgeries and who is competent to perform a laparoscopy. Irregular periods are often a common symptom of PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I have both endo and PCOS. A common treatment for both endo and PCOS is the pill, but you'll find a lot of women on this forum for whom the pill just made periods crazier w/ breakthrough bleeding, and the pills actually caused vaginal atrophy for me like in menopause. Well, please feel free to browse through the forum! You'll find a lot of good info. Just take note that you can't conclusively dx endo through an ultrasound! Good luck! Keep us posted!
