I'm 31 years old I live in Maryland. I have been suffering with Endo since I was 12 yrs old. I have been on ever birthcontrol there is out in the world. I've had about 10 surgeries ( I stop counting after 10) since I was 12 years old. It has only gotton worse through the years. I had to have a Hysterectogmy (sp) back in Nov 29th 2004. The doctor kept my ovries ( twins ) in and all I have had is problems. When the doctor did the hyster. he found cervical cancer. I'm so greatful that GOD gave me the peace to have the hyster. done and for him to keep me here to tell other women about my story. I have been fighting the doctors to take my twins out but they all say I'm to young. But I feel that it should be my choice. I just don't understamd that women have the choice to get rid of a baby and to get there breat inlaraged but we don't not have the say to take out the twins it makes no since to me what so ever. But I will get them out soon I don't care what I have to do to get them out. I am seeing a pain doctor now he has me on Morphine 2x's a day. ( what fun that is ). I have been on so many meds nothing works I have tried the natural stuff nothing works there. I am a mssage therpist so I know all about natural. Massage helped for a while but it does not work anymore. I just pray that GOD gets me out of this pain and living some what a normal life. I'm not asking to run 20 miles but to beable to walk in the mall. I know I'm not the worse person at there I know there is someone worse then me. But that is my story if you have any questions feel free to ask I will be more then happy to answer them. I am very open about Endo to anyone.

I understand your pain and frusterations I had my hysterectomy in 2004 as well, I wish now I removed my ovaries too the dr.'s will not take mine out either since im only 29 even though i get painful cysts and the endo keeps returning and i have to keep having surgeries to remove it
there is no cure but they say menopause is the best relife i know a women who had it all out at age 26 it has been alittle over a year for her and shes not in pain anymore, but she is worried about bone loss ,
then i know another lady who has no ovaries or uterus and still has peoblems with endo returning they actually found out the dr's had left a fragment of her ovarie behind and it flared up the endo since estrogen feeds endo and endo can itself make its own estrogen its hard to get rid of it
ladies who have had it all out warn me to not use hormone repacement therapy for 6 months to a year after a total hyst so that any mirco endo can die off, so if we ever get an ok from our dr.s we have to be really careful with hormones afterwards
this last suregry i had in april the dr was supposed to remove my right ovary, he cut me open this time and cleaned me out and removed cysts but left my ovary inside i was so mad when i woke up he gave me his word and i was upset about being cut opened for nothing all my other suregrys were vaginal or through my belly button
so im in a bind now hes saying if it continues to hurt he will now remove it so im hoping sometime this year i can remove the right one its always bothering me and i think half my pain will be eliminated, it is stupid that we dont have a choice with our own bodies like you said
we are the ones suffering but menopause to early can hurt us too this whole thing really stinks i hope you get some relief have a great weekend

Hi maryland, welcome to the forum. I'm sorry the doctors have been difficult, but there has to be a doctor who will take your ovaries out now if you want to. Some people do have their ovaries out at a young age, and it certainly is your choice. Too many doctors think they know what's best for us better than we do. If you are certain you want your ovaries out, look for a doctor who will do it, and be assertive.
Have you tried accupuncture, though? I haven't, but I have heard a lot of people say it helps tremendously with endometriosis pain. I might try it someday if I get the money. If you can do it it might be worth a shot. It might allow you to keep your ovaries, which I would guess you would rather do if you could.

Hi Maryland,
I agree with you and erzulie, it is your choice to have your ovaries out and there will be a doctor who is willing to do that for you, you might just have to keep looking for a while.
I have had acupuncture for the pain and for the fatigue. I went through a stage where I was so over tired I couldn't sleep at night but was falling asleep at work during the day. My first session on acupuncture I fell asleep with all the needles in and fell asleep that night - and sleep right through! It doesn't work for everyone but it might be worth a try, it seems you have tried everything else.

Hi Maryland,
Welcome!!
Your so right, women have the choice to have (or not have) a baby,,, yet the Doctors have made the decision for you to keep your "twins" ?!? THAT REALLY MAKES ME UPSET!
What is the world coming to?
Good luck - its your body right?!? Thats what all the pro-choicers say.

Welcome, Maryland. That lawyer idea may not be a bad idea--it'll put some fire under their behinds. I haven't done any research on this, but I would think there are some official rights patients have in regards to what kind of treatment they receive, as long as it's rational. If you research and find anything, you could write to your doctor/head physician and indicate that you know what your rights are. . . . and that by refusing to perform this procedure they are extending your pain beyond what's necessary. It might also help if you threaten to take your business elsewhere. They might be more compliant then.
