Hello everyone - I am the newest "newbie" to the group ready to chat about endo and how to cope with the "bad" news associated with trying to conceive. I was diagnosed with endo - stage 3 (I think) - in 2004, but the doctor indicated I may have had it since I was a teenager (I am 33 now). I had lap surg to determine it was endo then was put on Lupron for 6 months to reduce the cysts (5cm & 8cm). 6 months later, cysts were still there so surgery for removal was scheduled. After the surgery, the doctor indicated he had to take my right ovary and my left didn't look good either. I was advised to try to get pregnant.
After 5 months of trying, my husband and I decided to see a specialist, which has been an emotional roller coaster ever since (started in Dec. 2005). I started with the HSG test - my tube was blocked - so this test was quite painful. We were able to save money on the first IVF cycle by participating in a study, but no results. Our insurance company was able to help us with 2 more trys at IVF, but no results. Last month, we tried again - on our own dime! The results were negative and advised me that my eggs were bad and to consider donor or adoption as the next step.
Prior to my 3rd/4th attempt, I was instructed to use DHEA 3x per day to help promote more quality eggs while on the fertility drugs. Comparing my 1st cycle results with my 4th, the production of eggs and quality at transfer significantly improved, but it seems that once we do transfer, the eggs don't implant. I had an exploratory surgery done with a cervical stint placed in Aug 2006 to look for any signs of scarring or issues in my uterus that would prevent implantation.
My IVF experience has been quite emotional and I'm looking to find some positive support from this site. So far I've found some valuable information.
