Hello all! I recently found this site and am happy there is some support out there for endo. A few days ago I had a laparoscopy to remove a cyst on my ovary that was about the size of an orange. During the surgery, the doctor also found that I had stage 2 endo and lasered the spots he could see with the naked eye. I'm going to have injections of luperon (sp?) for 4 months in hopes that will take care of what he couldn't see. I don't know anything about endometriosis, especially what to expect from here. I'm 25 and my husband and I are ready to start trying to conceive. This is what I'm most concerned about. Any advice? I don't even know what questions I should ask the doc for my post-op appointment. Thanks for your help!

This site will help to answer a lot of your question, there is a thread in Drug treatments specifically on Lupron. You need to make sutre and do your research on this drug beofore you choose to take it because there are many side effects and your chance of getting pregnant right after is slim since your body has no hormones from the treatment. here is the link to the Lupron thread cjlevett.proboards33.com/index.cgi?board=drug&action=display&thread=1149213147 I think if you are ready to conceive than your should try conceiving first before you try Lupron! I have posted a few comments about my experience with the drug and many others have too. You should really read it!

That is good know! I will definitely bring that point up to my doc when I go in for my next appointment. He told me that my best chances of conceiving are 6-8 months after I finish my 4 months of Lupron. Do you know if docs usually prescribe this to those who are in their early stages of endo?

It took me 1 year to get my hormones back, and in result of that it took a year to get pregnant. After many medications and much money spent and a round of clomid did I get pregnant. So before you take Lupron please way your options. I was percribed Lupron at stage II endo so Yes I do believe they perscribe it for those who are in early stages of endo!

HI! Welcome! Definitely check out the thread on Lupron. There are 4 or 5 pages to it, so start at the very beginning to get the best picture of the possible side effects. Welcome again!

Lyndsey, I'm no expert but I can't help thinking that if you're stage 2 and only one ovary is affected, you are in a reasonably good position. Were your tubes checked? All the best! See if you can read up on cycle charting and diet changes. That's where I'm at too.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! I'm trying to keep my spirits up. I found out I had an ovarian cyst in January and we had planned to start ttc in March. So, we haven't even given it a shot yet! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be easier than I'm expecting it to be. The doc did check my tubes during the lap and said everything looked fine.

Update: I had a post-op appointment with my OB today. I did find out that the endo (stage II) is only on my pelvis area and he took care of everything he could see with laser treatment. However, he still wants me to get 4 injections of Lupron in 3 months. His reasoning for this is he wants to take care of the endo and let my ovary rest. He removed 3 cysts from my right ovary, one large one and two small ones that he thinks I was born with. He says that if we start ttc now I will create more scar tissue around my ovary because it will not have had time to heal. What do you think? Should I get a second opinion?

I would get a second opinion, personally. Lupron is a big deal, especially if you want to TTC.
