Thank you ladies for helping me understand this. Like I have said from the beginning, this is all new to me and just like anyone else, I am searching for the answers to this debilitating disorder.
I had hopes that because my pain is only when I bleed, that if I stopped the bleeding, the pain would not exist. Somehow, this procedure sounded too easy. I've done the lap, the lupron, the bc's and now I am taking brevail (a natural supplement). When taking the bc's the docs told me to take the bc's the entire month, don't take the week off pill. That stopped the pain too.
Thank you Janet for your response. It makes sense to me. Your ovaries produce the hormones that promote endo growth. By taking the bc's continually without the one week break, the bc's were supressing the endo growth... Right!?!?!?!?
Unfortunately, because I am 40 and a smoker I was high risk with taking the bc's. They were starting to make my heart act funny, so after 2 months I had to quit them. I did however, quit smoking for a week and now instead of a 1/2 pack a day, I have 3 a day sometimes 2. Quitting cold turkey was worse than the 6+ months of Lupron injections (hormonal outbursts).
PS.. I don't want you all to think that I am stupid. I have a brain injury and with that my comprehension skills and short term memory don't work too well. So it may take me a little longer to understand exactly how endo works.
Hugs
