I am happy to report that I had no troubles peeing this time! The nurse was kinda surprised when I called her over to help me to the bathroom! I felt like I couldn't hold it!! She said that with not having drank or ate anything in a while, as well as having the cathater during the surgery that she didn't think I'd have to go - but I did.. so all was well with that!

I had the same problem with not bein able to pee! I had to stay till 3 the next day in the surgical recovery room over night with a ery unhappy on call nurse, talk about no peace and quiet the next day. One of the nurses told me to try an ice pack down there to reduce the swelling and an hour and one half later I peed. It was a wonderful moment! So try some ice after surgery.the nurse told me that some peoples anatomy is different and that sometimes the bladder sits right on the vagina and since they are all up in there it causes swelling of the bladder enterance...so ice. It worked for me.

I think a lot of the problems we experience trying to urinate after surgery stem from the use of narcotics with which we are put under for general anethesia. Narcotics slow the digestive system (can lead to constipation) and make urination difficult.
