OH. I hope the Seasonique works for you! When you do update, search to see if we have "Seasonique" thread. If not, create one and start there. There may be more people who will be interested in it than those who read this thread. Thanks! Hope it works for you!!!

Okay... after reading all the different stories ppl have shared here, I'm wondering just how much my doctors are doing to help me & the chronic pain I'm in. I've done a lot of research but my docs haven't suggested anything, except that my pain may be intestinal and like I've mentioned on here before I'm waiting to see a GI spec. I'm wondering if there's anything I should be doing or saying to my gyno or gp about treatment. They've never mentioned meds for the pain, the constipation/diarohea/vomiting/nausea. Never mentioned progesterone cream, seeing a nutritionist (dismissed it saying changing my diet won't help), none of these things. I'm getting frustrated at this gnawing constant pain, I want some answers. My gyno didn't even tell me what stage my endo is/was... Even if I was scheduled for another tvag ultrasound, but nothing has been done. And why do I have to wait 5 months to be sent for a colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopoy, couldn't it be done sooner?? I seem to be coming up with quite a few questions, but if anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them, thanks...

conventional medicine doesnt recognise the role of diet, but many women can vouch for the fact that it in the least will help, it may not solve all your problems, but will more than likely help.
Ive never had a doc recommend progesterone cream, which i cant really understand, but i guess its something that homeopaths and maybe naturopaths use more then regular docs. If you can find a doc willing to help you use the natural progesterone all the better, but dont rely on finding that.
Do your research, theres plenty of threads on here about diet, and natural therapies you can try, make your decision and tell your doc what your doing. If they wont support you in your decisions, find another doc, its your body, you make the final call, not them.

I am on Synarel now as recommneded by my surgeon. Due to the extent of my endo which was pretty severe i am taking the drug as a preventative. It is aimed to preserve my pelvis utnil i want to conceive. I am on the diet to help the symptoms but the diet alone wont stop my endo from returning merely assist the symptoms. but from using the drug to turn off my ovaries it will prevent endo through stopping my periods.

Have you thought of asking your doc what stage you are? I doubt he'd withhold info if you straight up asked. I think it's important to know.
Also, as far as the sigmoidoscopy, I had to wait several months after my lap to have that done bc I had a fair bit of endo burned off my colon, so my doc wanted to give it time to heal before shoving a big scope up inside. Don't know if that is a consideration your doc has. But if you haven't recently had a lap, I'd seek another doctor's referral.
And I agree w/ kb. Do your own research and make your own final decisions. It's definitely YOUR call over the doctors.

Seasonique is the only bcp that i havent had break through periods with...except when i mess it up.
issue ivefound is that if i even forget to take it, even few hours later im throwinng the whole thing out of whack and end up with a period or cramps...i try to avoid both, im no hero when it comes to periods and crying in fetal positon
when those accidental periods happen...well i jsut went to dr begging for hysterectomy (she said she'd never until i have a baby, mind u i dont think i can get knocked up if im night sweating in fetal position every night)but anyways she's suggesting lupron.
i cant debate on lupron or continuous bcp being natural or safe, im more interestd in getting well rested. and at 29 i know i should be thinking of pregnancy and futures but first things first maintaining pain and not missing work because of "girly cramps" is my priority seasoniue has helped me. am i happy and living comfortable, no, but i dont have to be doped up on percoset, phenergan AND toradol 2 days a month becuas of period pain.
Ouchy thats so interesting to me that you found that you had less pain off of bcp! it was so bad, and have been on bcp ever since my lap that im scared to try life without them! you are brave woman to me:)

My doc has recommended i go on BCP as maintenance, yay for me.
Im not terribly keen on any hormone therapy but am frightened of the endo coming back, and am scared of not being fertile by the time im ready to have children.
I also still have some pain that feels like my old pain, i guess it hasnt been that long, so maybe its still just surgical pain that feels like my old pain. Prob is the surgical pain mostly feels like just that, so the couple of time a day i get pain that resembles my old continuous best friend is a bit frightening.
Anyway, ive decided to try the pill out, ive never been on it so i figure ill give it a go. Ive been prescribed Levlen, fingers crossed, and ill hope for the best.

ive changed my mind, lol, in less than 24hrs.
Have been doing alot of reading, and thinking, and i dont believe that the bc pill will really preserve my fertility.
So, ive decided to give it a few months, and see how successful the surgery really has been. If i still have problems, ill try the pill, but am not going to use it if i have no symptoms.
My symptoms are aggressive considering i only have early stage disease, so i think ill know if it comes back, no fear of that.

Yayy! Also, the pain may come back with debilitating painfulness, but that doesn't mean it's spread like wildfire. Before my second lap, I had more pain than before my first lap, and upon viewing, I had less endometriosis (with more pain) than at my first lap. I hope watch-and-wait works for you, kb!

thanks hubby's not terribly impressed, but he lets me make my own decisions, he knows i research everything. I think he just tends to believe whatever a doctor tells him, ive tried breaking that habit of his, but its so well set in him, lol. Im still going to continue my herbs, and a good diet, and supplements, although maybe a few less supplements than before. Hopefully ill be able to exercise lots soon too which i think will be far better for my fertility than birth control.

It's amazing to see here what works for some and what doesn't. Right now I am on Seasonique but wish not I went on it after my lap back in march. My endo came back right away and I only had stage 2. only two month after my lap I now have cysts on both of my ovaries. I am hoping that with the birth control that they have shrunk on my next ultrasound. Good luck to you in finding what works for you! I am still trying to find mine. Carrie

i used to be on BC for my period pain and was on it at 16 and it def made a difference to all my associated symptoms. never had any side effects from it and had the dosage increased a few times too.
i hope diet and exercise alone work for you KB but if not BC is a good option. I was on Levlen and had zip side effects in my teens. Your ovaries and tubes were not affected were they? if not then thats a bonus too!
i started HRT today and have found out it can cause breast and ovarian cancer.... and im on it long term!

No ovaries and tubes werent effected, so thats a bonus.
Thanks Cass, that eases my mind.
Geez Carrie, thats a bit scary, coming back so fast. Im hoping since it was excised and not diathermy that it will at least take longer to come back, but i guess that shows we cant know what will happen, once uve got endo uve got it.
Am sorry to hear that Cass bout the HRT, i guess alot of drugs have these potential side effects. When it comes down to it though, its about quality of life, and hopefully ull get urs back soon.
