Haha, awesome idea Actually i think if it could be done it would be, it would save alot for the drug companies too, no real risks then. It is a shame but, and i seem to react badly to so many drugs.

I'm glad you asked this question. I don't know how far back you've gone on some of the threads. But I'll try to give you the cliff notes version. Diagnosed with endo when I was 15, been on the pill ever since. Been on continuous birth control pills for... close to 8 or 9 years. Its been quite a while. I've tried it both ways, getting a pill every 3 months, and getting it when my body wants me to get it. Some pills are better than others. I've tried it with a number of different pills, when I was younger I was taking most of the ortho pills. I recently started taking Apri, which is the generic for Ortho Cept. I have had good luck with this one so far. I have noticed some minor side effects for me as nausea and probably worse PMS- oops. But as far as the pain and other issues I have had in the past I don't see them as much. I tried Yaz, I tried Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo and Ortho Tri Cyclen. All of those I didn't care for, but I have been on the pill for 14 years so it is hard to remember them all. If I could go back I would keep a log/diary of pain and meds and food etc to help me with things much easier. Recently I started it and it helps when I do have any appointments. I always write down my questions when I go now. Some doctors don't have a problem with you tape recording the appointment also if you have a ton of questions since it is hard to write them all down. Recently I had to have a lump removed from my breast. It was just a huge chunk of fat. Nothing found, but I still have part of it left. I am wondering if that has anything to do with the pill for so long. I can tell you that the "girls" have gotten a cup size larger since going on Apri. Pro or Con?? not sure. I can tell you this, after my last surgery my dr who is VERY knowledgeable in the endo field wanted me to go on Lupron until I have children. I decided for personal reasons not to do this, but he has done it with other patients and even some staff of his who are his patients and they have had tremendous success with it. They have been on it for years, which is not recommended by the makers of the drug. So that is a tidbit of info. I have spoke to some of the people he has done this with and they have had good and bad side effects, but overall they seemed to have success with it for what they were after. No endo growing while on the treatment of the lupron and very little or no pain. Good luck with it. I have had good and bad periods. Until I switched to the Apri most were very long 10-12 days usually, and very brown and chunky for quite a few days. Then towards the end they would be bright red. Which is why he switched me to the Apri. Since then I have had a few periods and they have been short 3-4 days, and bright red and pretty tolerable. - sorry for the graphicness but it kind of gives you and idea of how bad they can be. Hope that helps.

I was soooo sick on Apri. That was my last battle with birth control. After that I needed a break. Now I'm back on it in the form of nuvaring, and minus the fact my body keeps wanting to spit it out, I kinda like it!

Its so weird how some bcp's affect certain people and how some don't. Really weird.

I have been taking Marvelon since I was in gr 9 and when diagnosed at 16 was switced to Marvelon 21... i was told by my OBGYN to stop every 3 months and have a period. However my endo was acting up still so I was told to take them continuously and stop once a year... It's been working pretty well. This is emberassing but since i dont really get a period anymore should i be using a dousche or something to keep my vag clean

it cleans itself regardless of whether or not you have a period.

Remeber to talk to your insurance CO about this too - I had to explain my situation and have the DR write a letter to them to explain why I had to get my patch refilled so often.
Personally I find that my pain and flow is much less when I stay on the birth control for the 3 months and then only have those 4 periods a month. Just finding the money to pay for the patch is what I have probs with - lol not gonna give it up tho - the PILLS do nothing for me.

Ooooooh! I loved the patch, too! Planned Parenthood has sliding-scale fees if it is too expensive for you.

Okay so i have a question than. I was at the doctors and i was having my pap done and it really hurt and she said it might hurt more because it is swollen from being on the pill continuosly. Is this why it hurts so much to still have sex? I feel like its a real sick joke that i have never had it without it hurting.

The pill dries you out by killing cervical crypt cells (lubrication cells). It can get so dry that it can atrophy like you are in menopause. I thought that my pain with sex was from endometriosis, but it turned out that the vast majority of it was caused by being on the pill! (I was on the pill before I lost my virginity, so I don't have what to compare it to before that.)
We have a thread on induced aging of the cervix due to b.c. pills and I'll try to dig something up on "strawberry cervix."

new question... ive started to notice that my ovaries (where my endo is) start to act up when im on my last row of pills. Since i've been continous for a month ( skipped last period and plan to do so this month too) is there a reason for this? Since im not having my period does my body know when it should be starting? I dont know how the whole ovulating thing works while on BC.. im sure ouchy, you could help me out on this! ;D thanks!!

Hi there. Just thought I would let you know that I have had the same treatment for my Endo the 3mth BC thing... and just a couple of months ago I found out that the progesterone in it had caused my Cervix to grow abnormally causing me to have CIN1. I had to have diathermy of my cervix and have to have pap tests every year now. (NB: I have been on the BC since I was 15 because of irregular AF and am now 21, prolonged use? YES + I have acne now around my mouth/chin area which usually points to a hormone imbalance... I hate the pill!!) I am desperately looking for another alternative because I do not want to be on something that ends up causing more problems than fixing them... So if you can find something else that works for you go for it! And please let me know if you do!

I just went back on the pill (Trivora 28) after my surgery and it's been WONDERFUL. I opted at first to go au-natural after my surgery, but as I was approaching ovulation I changed my mind quickly. I had so much work done on my left ovary it was just way to sore to deal with growing a follicle. I was apprehensive at first because I haven't been on anything in almost four years, but I must say I love it again. I know I'm also better from the surgery, but it's a welcome relief to have quiet ovaries at the moment. Only side effects so far are tiny bouts of dragon-lady moments, and HUGE boobies. My appetite has increased a bit, so I've just been more careful than usual of what I'm putting in my mouth. I hope it stays this way because this is the best I've felt in a looooong time. I'm not gonna lie, it's been kind of nice to not worry about TTC everyday either. My brain needed a hiatus!
