There are so many weird places I get pains... in nooks and such that I never knew exisited! Sometimes its different each month. The one thing I have always had the same though is my periods being very painful and heavy with lots of clots. They say that there is no association with the amount of pain and how much endo you actually have. I just have to say that you definitley came to the right place to do a bit of your own 'research' before you see your doctor next month. A lot of us have a bit of a different story to tell but pretty much all feel the same from it. There is a lot of very useful information on this site (especially in the forum) that can help you ask yourself the questions that you may need further clarifications on.

Everytime I read someones story about them having endometriosis, it always consists of extremely painful, heavy periods. I don't have extremely heavy or painful periods. They are moderate in heaviness and I think my pain is the 'normal' kind of pain. I do have the 'endo' pain all throughout the month though.. and it gets a little worse around the time of my period... but it can also get worse when I am far from my periods when I engage in certain activities (sex, exercise...) I was just wondering if any of you guys experience somewhat normal periods. I do have worse pain and especially lower back pain the first few days.. but nothing extreme. My little sister on the other hand misses school at least twice a month for her period... and has gone to the emergency room because the pain was so bad that my parents got scared. She hasn't been diagnosed with endo yet.... but if my lap shows that I have it, then I am betting she has it too! So do any of you have "normal" periods? Whatever normal is... lol... cause mine aren't that bad. The pain is just always there

My cousin actually had stage IV and never had a period cramp in her life! Just depends on the person.

My Dr. had told me that every one experinces endo differently. Some one who is stage IV can have no pain where as some one who has stage I can be in herrific pain all month long. The reason everyone experineces different pain and symptoms is because it can be growing in all different parts of the body some being more painful but not necessarily worse.
He even told me during a C section delivery, he opended a woman up to find massive blood clots inside her abdomin and she had never had and pain or symptoms of endo. He said it was all over.

hmmm I guess you guys are right! My pain is only on my right.. but lately I have been feeling SLIGHT pains on my left.. so maybe I will have the doctor check on the left also... that would be ironic if I had mass endo on the left, and barely any one the right... even though that is the only place it hurts. But from hearing from you guys I guess anything is possible!

It's so true - anything is totally possible. It seems like our first battles are convincing the doctors that its totally possible! Atleast you have that first step covered!

Hi girls,
I'm quite new to this site, so first of all - Hello. I'm reading through all of your posts and i'm just nodding and nodding over again. I have endo all over my left ovary and on the ligaments on the back of my uterus (which is also retroverted). I've suffered in pain for probably the last 10 or so years (i'm 25 now). Each period would be horrible. I would have days off school and then work. I'd miss out on parties and days out with my friends because i knew i just couldn't handle being anywhere, other than curled up on the lounge in serious pain, heat pack on my tummy and codeine every 4 hours, atleast for the first 3-4 days. My periods would last for about 9 days and the flow would always be heavy throughout the first 3 days. I would have excruciating pain all through my lower tummy, aching pain down one leg and i would also get sharp stabbing pain in my bum and vagina. To the point of moving quickly when it would come through, but then going "Oh, Oh, Oh, Oh". People would ask "whats the matter" and i'd still be going "oh,oh, oh can't talk, can't talk. Then i'd have to do the breathing that they tell women in labour to do until the pain passed. Probably would be funny to watch, now that i think about it, but if anyone ever did laugh, i'd probably slap them, i'd be in that much pain. haha. I had my first lap just over a year ago and have been on the pill continously for 3 months, then stop and have a period. It has helped my quality of life, but i still get the pain when i do have a period. Specialist tells me, she will most likely refer me to another specialist to cut it out in my next lap. I just had it cauterized last lap.

Hi--I am hearing a lot of folks talk about the sharp shooting pains in the anus/vaginal area...you know, the ones that take your breath away for a few seconds.
I have been getting those pains during the first few days of my period since I was a teenager. They are the worst!!! I usually get them during a BM. I have come very close to passing out on a few occasions.
Is this typically a sign of endo? I have never been formally diagnosed, but seem to have all of the symptoms. This particular pain has been one that has always freaked me out, but I was always to embarrassed to talk to anyone about it. This is the first time I have actually heard other people say they have the same type of pain.
For those of you that have this pain--are you endo-diagnosed?

I was one the lucky ones in school/college whereas my friends were doubled over in pain i used to get a cramp half and hour before i actually started my period. The rest of the 5 days were normal no pain just blood. My periods became heavier when i got married but i was never irregular. I always started on the day i should. My cycle was perfect. Then it started to last for more than 5 days. During my younger days there was never any blood on days 5. I mentioned the clots to my mum and she said dun worry abt it..i used to get them too when i was ur age. At this stage my period pains were tolerable as i was getting a slight pain and more cramps. When i was diagnosed with ENDO my gyno was kind of shocked too that i was complaining more of pain during sex...pains in my ovary..back..anus and pelvic area and not abt my periods. But all that has changed now.. i get really bad period pains..the cramps..it leaves me shattered for a week. Not to forget that i always have a urine infection when i'm having my period which also gives me a temperature
