The one I've got can go anywhere according to the nurse that gave me it. I keep waking up with hip pain and this thing is sooooo goooood!

What I mean is that it's placed on the spine for generalised pain relief. My friend's mum was in the end stages so that they had to apply all pain relief in suppositories and it could have been very helpful for her but unfortunately it all happened so fast from that point. The TSE might be more suited for me due to the persistent pain in so many areas, they have some blurb on the site about it being the same size but much more powerful than a TeNS and because of the placement of the electrodes on the spine its designed to provide relief over a wide area. I'll ask about both. My TeNs is tiny but unfortunately is designed for only 2 pads. I don't know why doctors don't push them more they're a godsend when you've the right one for you and no side effects except the relief lasts for hours after you've taken it off. I used to use mine to get me off to sleep.

Yep, if it's on the spine it blocks the pain signals to the brain. I find if I use mine regularly it can give me days of relief.

I'll try my little TeNS tonight over the spine and see what that does for me, you know instead of on my abdomen or back. Same kind of philosophy as the TSE, maybe it'll help more...

Thanks guys! I've just spent a load of money on pain relief, vitamins, mooncup (!) etc so I'll look into the TSE and hopefully get some more pain relief!!

I knwo you're awaiting appointments doll but if your GP can refer you to a pain clinic anyway (or if you've get another appt) and then you discuss it with the doctors and nurses there they can help you find the right one for you. As I understand it TSE units are expensive so it's best to be cautious about buying one. In the meantime if you'd really like to get one then Helen's is ideal I think!

I just looked at the price - whoa!!! I think I will speak to my doc next time I'm at the hospital about pain clinics. I'm just looking into that other thread to see what Helen has. I'm on a bit of a New Years mission to sort my body and my pain out!!

I bought a TENS machine a week or so ago. Last night was a pretty tough night for pain so I broke it out for the first time. It worked great. The entire time I used it the pain subsided. The only down side is when I turned it off the pain slowly came back and was about the same in about an hour or so. However, for short term relief when you just think you can't hack it anymore, this thing worked great in place of reaching for pain meds.
My first experience with one was at the chiropractor YEARS ago after a car accident. It was my favorite part about going and I'd be so disappointed when I had to leave, hehe.

Yeah, bit of a bummer that's it doesn't give longer term relief, although I have to say, with long term use you do also see benefits while you don't use it. At least I have.

Oh, that's great. I'll continue using it and see if it builds up some type of long term relief. Thanks!

I think the more you use it, the more the nerves and everything that's inflamed just calms down. It's been a godsend for me, I think it's even helped with constipation as it just helps things relax. And then not being constipated helps the back pain. Win-win :-)
