Hi. I didn't know where to post this. I had a laparoscopy a 15 months ago and my doctor wanted me to stop my periods but I wanted to lose abit of weight. Since December I've been having periods every 2 weeks lasting 7 day, I was very fed up and decided to stop them. I've had the Merina coil before and that didn't work so I have had the implant in my arm put in. My dr put it in 2 weeks ago and have been having a period for 9 days and it's been worse than before! More painful, never getting lighter. I'm also nocturnally epileptic and I had a seizure just before I came on to my period and since then I haven't had any others but at night trying to sleep my brain is wired like it's not sure if it wants to go in to a fit. The weekend before I had the seizure I had been out drinking but it was a four day difference in between. I also feel really bloated since I've been on the implant, not just tummy but everywhere. I used to exercise a lot and in the pass 2 months have hardly done any. I'm just wondering would the implant affect my epilepsy and is anyone on it or had it and put on weight or found it difficult to with it? Also did u not have any periods while on it? I've not been on it for that long but I don't want it o make me feel worse. X

Hi there, welcome to the group.
I'm sorry I can't speak from experience, I have never done implants or anything to lessen my periods. But I have heard they can have side effects, and any concerns might be good to note down for your doctor. Things that are changing chemistry in the body can have many ripple effects on all the systems. Sometimes doctors won't listen, but having documentation in case you change doctors, or something gets worse, is important.
