Ladies! I have been gone forever, I know. I'm sure there are lots of new avatars and hopefully some of the old avatars are still around. Anyway, I had to read this essay called "On Being a Cripple" by Nancy Mairs for a class I am in. I didn't really know what to expect before I started, but within the first few paragraphs I was nodding and "mmhmm"ing to a lot of the stuff she said. I thought you all would appreciate a fellow incurable illness sufferer's attempt to illuminate the outside world. I also wrote a response essay to it, and I will post that if you all really want to read it. Here is the original essay: thelamedame.tumblr.com/post/30938417648/on-being-a-cripple

Hey Heather! Hope you are doing well. I love Nancy Mairs, her book "Waist-high in the World" is very good if you can find it. Thanks for posting.

Hi! I've been doing pretty well, super busy with school. Pain is a non-issue most days--I freaking love my naturopath for that. I will put Mairs' book on my Amazon wish-list. If you all want to read the essay I wrote in response, you can find it at gaiaspriestess.wordpress.com/2013/02/01/on-living-without-a-cure/ A former teacher of mine said I should publish it, but I've no idea how to do that.
