Oh dear, sorry about the rectal exam! I've had so many...I think I'm almost into the double digits at this point (my specialist always does both, as much as I try to persuade him not to!). Sometimes things get a little cranky from that. But I'm glad the appointment went well and you can get a surgery date soon. Way sooner than March, yeah!

I've had several surgeries before (none endo-related) so I know what to expect at the hospital and the basics of recovery, but I am still pretty nervous! My surgeon uses something called "MyChart". If none of you are familiar with it, it's pretty cool. I can log in to the site, see the notes of every phone call and visit, view test results, send private messages to the doctor, request rx refills, etc. I can pretty much see EVERYTHING in my file. So awesome! I sent my doctor a quick note about concerns I was having with managing my pain before surgery and a nurse called me within the hour! I hope more doctors move to this, as it makes it so much easier to ask questions and you can see the results of a test or lab report without having to wait to go back in.

Update on the new gyno that I talked about having to wait to see in March in my very first post on the board! 4-5 months, a trip to a specialist, a lap, and a diagnosis of endo, I finally got in to a regular gyno who actually cared. Her exact words after I told her about my symptoms and my endo journey were "Well, I hate periods and yours sound awful, so I am going to pull out every trick I have for you. Let me give you your options." I almost cried, I was so happy! Since I just had the lap 5 weeks ago and I will not go on hormones, she started with treating my biggest issue right now: pain. She put me on a pain management plan. She gave me advice on how to take OTC NSAIDs to their full potential and then gave me Tylenol #3 for breakthrough pain (allergic to Vicodin and Percoset). I am keeping a pain journal and reporting back in 3 months. If the plan does not work, she suggests Celebrex as step 2, I will have to read up on that. She mentioned Lupron, but I told her that I only wanted that as a last resort. Besides my specialist, this is the only obgyn out of the 4 I've been to in 7-8 years who heard me out and validated my feelings/opinions. So happy!

Sounds like a good appointment and worth the wait! If you don't already have a good pain log, www.reliefinsite.com is good, and you can even allow your doctor access, record meds, etc. The graphs you can run really help you notice trends, improvements, declines, etc.

Karen- thanks for the site rec, I have been just doing it on paper, but this looks a lot better. I'm sure the doc will appreciate not having to look at my chicken scratch.
semi- I've kind of been going up and down since the lap. After about a week, I was feeling good but still taking it easy. I went back to work at 2 weeks and was a little weak, but ok and virtually no pain other than a random cramp here and there. Well, I had my first post-op period week 3 and it was a doozy! I had been warned, but wow. It was worse than any of my other periods and I would have taken a few sick days but I had just exhausted them with the surgery. Ever since that period (which lasted 8 days, a day or 2 shorter than my pre-op periods) I have been having mild-moderate pain most days, with some bad pain sneaking in. I think it's too soon after the lap to decide whether this is my "new normal", my surgeon told me that nothing is my new normal for up to 6 months. I don't want to try anything else beyond pain control, some pelvic exercises, and some diet modification for at least those 6 months because my body may just be reacting to surgery.

Yes, that first or second period can be very disheartening! But wait and see if it gets better. It may be that there are some other pain forces at work that can now be managed now that the endo is better. Take it easy for a bit.

You're right, semi. I got a call from my doctor's nurse telling me that my doctor would rather me be on the Celebrex with the T3 as backup, rather than taking T3 more often. She had done some research on a blood mutation that I have and determined that this would be safe (she was unsure during the appointment). I am seeing that it has a lot of GI side effects, so I am nervous, plus it costs almost 5x more than the T3! I did a search for posts on it in here and I found some info, so I filled the prescription. Fingers crossed!

SO frustrated. Before my lap, I had pain, pulling, tenderness mostly on my left side, but now my right side is acting up. The pain isn't super intense, (maybe 5-6 on the pain scale) but it makes me wonder what is going on inside of me almost 3 months post-lap. My surgeon looked around on the right side, but everything he found and removed was on the left. This pain is more around my right ovary, which I have not had any problems with in the past. Just kind of one of those days that I feel like I'm at the end of my rope.
