I had my laproscopy in early October, my recovery went swimmingly well and I felt better than ever. I also managed to quit smoking, overhaul my diet, and start on BC.
My doctor was optimistic that with the fibroid and endo gone I would have fewer issues with BC.
I have one active pill left in my pack and I have had two weeks of non stop spotting and gastrointestinal issues. I'm back to barely being able to use the bathroom every 2-3 days. I finally gave in tonight and took laxatives again for the first time in over a month.
Overall the pain is not as bad, and the extremely excruciating pain like the groin, leg and lower back are all gone.
I have much less to complain about, but oh it is so frustrating.
The gastrointestinal issues are so clearly linked to the spotting, prior to that starting I had been going every day like the good old days.
And while I no longer have trapped gas, I now have super smelly gas A LOT. It's embarrassing.
I'm almost out of pain meds, and I'm likely to need to grovel for more before my appointment with my doctor on 12/3, which is also embarrassing.
I'm tired, and this sucks, and I'm tired of my body sucking.
Oh yeah, and starting this week the fatigue came creeping back! This chronic gastrointestinal crap (har har!) really wears me out. It's upsetting.

I'm sorry to hear you're having a rough time. Gastro issues can either be due to endo on the bowels and/or issues with foods. I know you mentioned a diet overhaul; any chance you could benefit from some more tweaking, or any chance you're eating a ton of foods that you normally didn't eat before? Issues with your gut can affect the rest of your body, so it's a good place to focus some time and energy! I hope you're able to figure out what's causing these issues. And I hope it passes soon!

I respect that diet works for you, and honestly it works for me too. However, my gastrointestinal issues are definitely related to either the BCP the endometriosis and is likely both. When I am not bleeding my digestion is fine. It was the most horrible thing two weeks ago when my stomach started to flip flop and I knew what I'd find when I went in the bathroom. Still I am thankful because the past two weeks are so much better than my two years prior to surgery. Being able to pass gas is amazing!!! I'm still having bloating but it is so much less. I can still eat which is really really cool. 6 months ago I was feeling much the same as I am now and I thought all my problems were solved and I had found my miracle cure with Camrese Lo. I half feel sad that I ever thought that how I was feeling was ok, and half feel selfish that I'm such a whiner now I'm not eating anything new, and honestly did not need to take much out. I've been vegan 5+ years, and have been able to get further with my health because of that. All I've really done is lower my gluten and soy intake. I tolerate both foods fine, both are two of the few no one in my family has issues with. Vegan chickun nuggets was like the only thing I could eat before surgery (they have soy and wheat). However, for endo reasons I'm dropping out practically all soy. For other diet reasons, I'm dropping most gluten. Being able to eat, being on BC, quitting smoking, and winter makes for high alert for weight gain. Since I'm finally well enough to leave the house I want to be able to wear my nice clothes

Despite the pain creeping up, you sound like you're still doing really well. Congratulations on quitting smoking! I know that can be terribly difficult. As far as the gas you mentioned, I notice that when I change my diet (even just a little) my body will freak out for a while with gas funk and then get used to it. Although like you said, your bowel issues are directly correlated with your spotting so I wonder if it really is the endo on your bowels.
How are you feeling today??

Hi willow82: I can completely relate to the smelly gas and bloating. I can clear a room with the stench. LOL. Due to a kidney stone (which has been removed) I have had to increase my intake of water by a lot. Even with that and cutting out pop, I still suffer from a lot of gas. What do you do to help with the gas?

Hi and welcome. pain meds can do this to you as well with the BM. I had the same problem. I feel bad that you are going through so much. I am now on mirena instead of the BC pill and doing great with it. Some people love it and some hate it. I have been lucky with it.

I actually don't take much in the way of pain medication for that reason. I can't take NSAIDs at all, tylenol is a joke most of the time. Since overall my pain is like 50% better I at most need one Hydrocodone in the evening a couple nights a week. Last month which was unexpectedly bad I took maybe 8 tablets the entire month.
My doctor confirmed yesterday that yes it is likely the endometriosis causing my problems, and yes when I spot my endometriosis is likely also bleeding. My best hope is to get on a medication that does not cause spotting.
I thought through everything that was going on with the Microgestin Fe and on top of the spotting issues I think my body just hated the Norethidrone, so I switched back to a Levonorgestrel based BC. My doc was open minded, he admitted not knowing as much about the hormones and let me take the lead which I deeply appreciated. Other than the spotting I did amazing on a Levonorgestrel BC, my skin was clear, energy high, had a sex drive again. So we're trying what I was on this spring at a higher dose and praying for no spotting.
So I'm on day two of the new med and I'm still dealing with constipation daily. Based on previous experience it will probably be at least a week before I feel better, though likely I will feel completely better.
The goal is to eliminate my periods if my body will tolerate it.
I was disheartening to hear that I still have active endometriosis (which doc said was likely at my stage), and even more so that it is an immediate concern and causing so many problems.
I am thankful to have a diagnosis, and am so glad I got surgery as I said so much of my pain is better it really is over a 50% drop. Some of my problems have also been completely eliminated.
Charlie: I'm thankful for my smelly gas LOL for years I would get so blocked up I couldn't really pass gas.
Also gas isn't really my issue, my issue is my colon can't do it's job properly due to inflammation from the Endometriosis.
