I broke down this week and washed it with diluted shampoo. I tried using a bit of corn starch to absorb some of the oil but it didn't work too well... I washed it on Wednesday and luckily, it's still very nice! I haven't even had to rinse it yet - doesn't look or smell gross at all! I'm hopeful I can go a few days without rinsing from here on out.

I don't know how you're doing it because my scalp hates not being washed. I just can't get it to work.

I'm amazed, Karen! I've never gotten past a week.
Jenaya, I wonder if it's all the humidity around here?

I got my hair cut last week and my hair stylist washed my hair. He cut off all the old, dried bits and it now looks awesome and healthy! While I was there, I decided to have my hair colored by him a week later (last night) and I hadn't washed my hair in between at all... Now this is a guy that's been cutting hair for 30+ years (I've been seeing him for 12 years) and he can tell if I use a new shampoo, color my hair from a box, go somewhere else for a cut, or use a new hair product. What I'm saying is that this guy knows my hair... I mentioned to him that I don't wash my hair every day and he said I must go 2-3 days without washing. Ha ha, I feel like I tricked him - finally! When I told him it hadn't been washed since I last saw him, not only was he shocked, BUT he also said going a week between washings was perfect for my hair! I can't ever imagine going back to washing it every day. I save so much time in the morning, too!

Karen - That is Awesome!! To hear it from someone who really knows hair is reassuring. My hairstylist told me once that she thought people should go as long as they could between washings, meaning 2-3 days from her perspective, but still, maybe this is catching on. I've been spending a lot of time at the beach and my hair has been getting a little dried out so I've been doing oil treatments. On hair that hasn't been washed in months! lol

I have the same problem, hair is really thin I believe in the past 5 years, it has been falling out alot more (I've noticed in my brush, on my pillow etc..) I keep hearing of this production Ovation Hair on the radio & want to try it, but I don't have the funds right now. Here's the link, maybe you can youtube people's results or something.. ovationhair.com/

Have you checked your thyroid? or other deficiencies (iron, Vit B, protein)? All can lead to hair loss!

my thyroid is fine..but i do have thallasimic (idk the spelling) i guess it's common in southeast asian women. but i'm not sure if that causes hair loss or not.

I've been using this shampoo for the past 8 months or so: www.mehandi.com/shop/liquidshampoo/index.htmlI really like it and it has very simple ingredients: saponified oils of sunflower (infused with cassia, amla) coconut, and castor bean, vegetable glycerin, xanthan gum. I use the unscented one. It's expensive, but it lasts a long time, as I have also started washing my hair less often. Usually I can go 5 days. Although sometimes it's more like 3 or 4. It depends if my scalp starts itching. I also color my hair with henna (also from this website) which makes my brown hair auburn and after I do the henna, then I can go one full week without washing. Not sure why, but the henna does that for some reason. I was never an every day washer, but used to be every two or three days. I also tried using hair soaps, but it seemed hard to get them out totally and there was often some residue still left. I heard a vinegar rinse helps, but I hate vinegar so much that I don't think I could stand the smell. So I used conditioner after the shampoo.

Figured I would ask in this thread - are any of you ladies currently using WEN cleansing conditioner? I kept seeing it on QVC so I went online to ebay and ordered a starter pack, it comes with the 16 oz cleansing conditioner, a styling cream, a deep conditioner treatment, and a texture balm. I have long hair, hits my back bra strap and it's fine but thick. WEN suggests using 12-18 pumps of product for my length of hair, cleanse, rinse, repeat but the 2nd cleanse I have been using less. I feel like I'm blowing thru product even though I only wash every other day. I also see when I'm blowing my hair out with a round brush that I have a ton of build up on my hair. Yuck. Today, I only cleansed 1x, didn't do the rinse and repeat step. Not sure if I'm missing something here. This stuff is major pricey as well. I was looking online and found that Sally's has a copy cat version called hair one....anyone using wen or hair one - would like to see your feedback. Thanks!

Nope, haven't tried it - it has too many ingredients I'm trying to avoid. I also saw a lot of reviews that people's hair falls at out a faster rate with it, so I'm steering clear and am only using product with ingredients I can pronounce once a week.

Well, my worst nightmare has happened! So, I started using the wen but thought it was very pricey so I switched to a cheaper alternative called hair one. I don't think either of the cleansing creams caused what happened to me, I'm positive that it was the wen styling cream, the same one I noted above that caused me the major build up. I have been back to using normal shampoo again but I noticed about 3-4 weeks ago that the left side of my hair length was way shorter than the right side length, like by 3 inches! I went to get my hair cut yesterday and my stylist could clearly see where my hair literally broke off mid strand! I"m so upset! My hair was to my back bra strap and now it's considerably shorter by like 3-4 inches. My stylist said the silicones in the product caused my hair to act like a twig and it just snapped. She could see this in multiple sections on my hair. I'm devistated. I have been researching supplements to try for helping my hair grow back faster. I read about biotin but there are complaints that it causes cystic acne and I'm acne prone so I'm staying away from that. Read about silica or horse tail. Has anyone used silica or horse tail for hair growth? I feel like I'm scalped, I love my long hair.....this is just beyond. I'm going to call the FDA tomorrow and report my experience with the styling creme. That was the ONLY thing I changed and I know that was the product that did the damage.
Sad face....

Shoes, I am woefully ignorant on hair products but just wanted to say I am so sad for your long locks. I hope things get better fast!
