Hello everyone! I hope you are doing great today. I have an important question: have you ever purchased any prescription medication at an on-line pharmacy, where they don't require a prescription? If so, was it legit, did they send the medication, was it real or it's just a hoax? I need a few medications, like asthma inhaler and I have found a few places to buy it but I am still hesitant. One of these pharmacies claims to send meds from Europe (crazy low prices) within 10 days. Believe it or not.....?

Never have and when it comes to your health - it's not worth the risk - unless it's filled at a pharmacy with an RX, don't touch it.

I truly understand wanting to find medications at cheaper prices but I really really don't think these sites are safe (nor are they legal). These pharmacies don't have to abide by any regulations and so the safety isn't guaranteed. I'm sure there really are legit "black market" pharmacies with safe medications but it's such a gamble with your health to try and find the right one. I wouldn't risk it.

If its off market or knockoffs you don't necessarily know what is in the meds, and if the doseage is accurate. You don't want to have an asthma attack and find out your inhaler is only full of smelly air!! But it it's a cost issue, you can check the drug manufacturers (like they say to on TV) to see if you can get a discount. Talk to your doc too.

I don't know.....i still want to try...in my case prices of medications are REAL problem. No insurance is another. My best asthma inhaler Pulmicort(slow acting) costs about 200$. With discount in Walgreens Saving Club 134$, still too much. I take Xopenex,(fast acting) cheap but not good, lasts very short, I have to take it several times a day ( sometimes even five times) and now allergy season started. I got pink eye last week, Tobradex costs 149$, I used the one I had 2 years ago, I preserved it because I knew I wouldn't afford a new one. It seems I always have some health issues when money is short. At leas I got my Gianvi (Pill) cheaper, I pay 48$ at Walgreens, normally it costs between 70-80$, but considering that the price of Gianvi increased twice since I started using it last year (20$ more than initial price I paid) I will not probably enjoy low price forever. I do not know what is worse, suffering because I cannot afford the med or dying because I took the wrong one.

Thanks for link, I just checked and I cannot apply because I am stupid visa student, no green card. I cannot use MedicAid either. No government supported programs. At least I got Advair for free, just once. I will see how it works. If this situation goes on like that, I will have to start thinking about natural remedies, sometimes it helps. By the way, why would you need a GREEN CARD to get an asthma inhaler for free? ? It's ridiculous!!!!!!!!!...I am human being too I hate being segregated on the basis of my legal status...

No way, not in a million. Don't know what you're getting.

Where are you from? Do you get free healthcare back in your home country? Maybe someone can send you something?

I'm so freaked out reading about this - it's totally not worth the risk, what if you got something mixed with something bad and you got sick - the medical expenses you will incur will far outweigh any savings you might have tried to get. I wouldn't do it.

I have to say, I have done this, in similar situations: no insurance, couldn't afford meds, or the doctor trip to get them. I do think it is risky, but I didn't have other options at that point. I focused on Canada--they have govt-funded health care and so things are much cheaper. I got birth control from there. I have also gotten prednisone from Canada, at a point when I was on teh verge of going to the hospital for an allergic reaction. It was real prednisone: it worked. But I REALLY do not recommend this. It's not a good idea. In fact, please don't do it; I'm just sharing, in the interest of honesty, the fact that I have done this.
Is there anything else you can do? You said you are a student--where? is there a campus health center?

I have a friend who is a pharmacy tech. She said there are hundreds of ways to get cheaper meds from your pharmacy, you just need to ask about them. I didn't know this! You know how those commercials say "if you can't afford your medication..." blah, blah. Its actually true. The pharmacist can apply for help for you. Its sometimes better if you have a small town pharmacist but Walgreens should be trained to do this as well. Its a much safer alternative!

Hey Karla, do you know if she can qualify for this help even if she's not a U.S. citizen? That would be really cool if she could!

My school doesn't provide anything, they are there just to reap your money. I think I may get Pulmicort through my mom or sister, they have green cards. And my country, it's a disaster, whole medicare is based on bribery. By the way I have no insurance back there, they wouldn't cover anything anyway, even if I had it. This is how my country works. As far as I know, my friend's son has ordered some heart/blood pressure meds for her. Here she has to pay over 200$. From Canada it's way cheaper, I will see if the medications are legit and maybe use the same source.Allergies and asthma are not the end of the world, you can always figure out something, but still with these extremely high costs of medicare in the US it's a scare to be sick...

Can you check with a pharmacy tech first? I didn't know about that and I thought Karla's suggestion was great. That's better than ordering online from an unregulated market.
Hope you work something out!
