I'm sorry this happened again, and I'm sorry there is limited knowledge about what to do with you. I agree with semicolon - a hyster may not be a fix, so if it's something that you don't want, ask for other options. Same with lupron. Whatever the case, I hope the appointment with the RE goes well and she's confident she can help you in other ways!

Hi semicolon and Karen!
No, I did not go to the hospital for this collapse. After MUCH negotiation with the doctor and the Pulmonary Dept, I was allowed to stay out of the hospital. This collapse was not as big as the first. I had chest and back pain pain intermittantly, sometimes the pain would be fairly severe and make me want to cry, but it usually passed within 2 hours. I did have to go in for chest x-rays every day for 4 days and then a follow up x-ray at 2 weeks that showed the pneumothorax had resolved on it's own. (Yay!)
My chest pain is right in the middle of my chest and *slightly* wraps under my right breast. The back pain is directly behind the chest pain.
This time around, I didn't have too much trouble breathing, like I did last time. I could breathe and walk normally for the most part. Walking uphill was a little tough, so I avoided it.
So, we shall see what the RE says. I'm hopeful my endo can be controlled for the next several years with birth control pills until my body's own menopause kicks in. My gut is telling me that a hyst is NOT right for me. I'm just hoping this RE is not one of those doctor's that *promotes* hysts as the cure-all for everything.

Fishguru: Not sure if your up to flying.... but there are some pretty good specialists here in Cali, right outside of San Fran. If you want any further info let me know Best of Luck to you..... this sounds just miserable. A chest tube has to be incredibly painful and sucky

Hi DeAnna,
I am cleared for flying now, but I have Kaiser for my medical coverage here in Hawaii. If I see anyone outside of Kaiser, I pay for it all myself. And there is NO way I could afford that, especially a specialist. So...I'm kinda stuck with whoever Kaiser has on staff.
It totally sucks, but at least I have medical coverage of some type. So, I just need to educate myself before I see the RE specialist so I can make the most out of my half hour with her.
Thank you for the suggestion, tho!! Hawaii's medical coverage plans work a little differently.

Whew, that's a lot of x-rays! But I'd do it to avoid a chest tube. Good luck with the RE, I hope they have some suggestions. I wish you could see a specialist but I know that's not always possible. At least you can say a doctor is flying in to see you!

It was a lot of x-rays, but they are very quick to do. And I would MUCH rather take a few mins out of my day to go to the doc and get and x-ray than be slowly stabbed in the chest with a ice pick for 45 mins. And yes...I was awake for the chest tube insertion last year. It was the most traumatic thing I have ever endured. My 2 c-sections were a BREEZE compared to getting a chest tube put in.

I'll keep you all posted on what the RE says. I've been doing my homework, tho! Found a bunch of good stuff I will share with the RE. She'll probably blow them off and just tell me "have a hyst!", but I'm hopeful that she'll work with me.
