Lol, stay positive! I think I had sex a couple of weeks after my lap, maybe 10 days?

I hope it goes great, Jess! I'm really glad to hear about the sex--does this mean you've found someone you want to have sex with or you're just horny? My husband and i managed to have sex in the 2 weeks between the lap and the insertion of the mirena.

Thanks girls. I'm just horny haha. I don't really have anyone in mind.
On another note... I just found out that I didn't pass a prerequisite class for my upper-division studies. I failed the final. I got a 50/100. I studied so much for that exam but it doesn't help that his tests are super tricky, plus I was in so much discomfort the whole week. I honestly don't even know what to think of things right now. I feel just.. stupefied. I don't know that I've ever disclosed this (no reason to, really), but I went form being a 3.9 GPA student to 3.45 when I started getting really sick last spring, and now I have a C+, a B-, and a D. I don't even know what kind of GPA that is going to be. This is not me.

I hope all goes well Jess and I am sorry you are struggling. You have had so much on your plate so be gentle with yourself. I hope this surgery gives you the relief you are looking for. I'll be honest I'm even more curious to see how your surgery goes and to hear more about Dr. Redwine. I'm starting to really consider having surgery with him next year. Tell my Dr. crush hello.

Oh Jess, I'm so sorry I have been there so I understand. It gets better eventually. I wish there was more I could do to help!

I really hope your surgery goes well and you finally get some answers about what's going on with you! I think it's awful your first surgeon didn't document/communicate what he did/saw and help you enough that you're going through this again. But, I have no doubt you're in the best of hands.

Jess, I"m really sorry. Have you talked with your advisor about what's been going on with you? You'll figure it out--you're an incredibly smart, articulate woman and clearly can perform well in the classroom (you can take this as my professional opinion ). But if you haven't, letting your advisors/supervising professors know what your last two semester have been might help. I know some profs can give exams over (or different versions of the same exam), for instance. In any case, it might be worth checking out, once you get through your surgery and healed up!

I'm with RM, there are often staff at colleges specifically there to help students with chronic illness and advocate for them (at one of the univs I worked at it was a nurse at health services). Sometimes you just have to find the right person (I used to be a hall director so lived in a dorm as my full time job)!. I'm sort of surprised, but also not at all, that no one has noticed your GPA slide, maybe you need to make them notice and make them listen.
But for now put that all behind you and concentrate on getting through surgery, healing well, and enjoying the holidays. Good luck!

Thanks girls! Kate at Dr. Redwine's office (Nicolle, I am IN LOVE with this woman.. she is amazing... you would love her.. ANYONE would love her..) offered to draft a letter for me to give to my teachers to see if I can re-take my finals and/or have the professor whose class I failed at least issue me an incomplete instead of a D. Maybe things will turn out okay, but for now that is not something I am able to deal with because.. .... Surgery is tomorrow morning! It's 12:45 am here and I'm still awake even though I have to be up at 5:30 (I need to be at the hospital by 6/6:30) but the nerves are setting in so I'm having trouble getting my mind settled. I always am like this! Totally chill, not the least bit nervous prior to surgery, but just so anxious the night before. I don't feel worried or anything because I know that I'm in good hands.. I think it's more a feeling of dread because I know what else is to come. For you girls: It was very interesting hearing from Kate and Dr. Redwine regarding recovery. For anyone wondering about PRESACRAL NEURECTOMY (I know it is a less common procedure but is quickly growing in popularity here in the US): Dr. Redwine spoke with my mom and I extensively on PN's. Interestingly, constipation is not really an issue with PN's (there is research that documents this, but Redwine's own patient history shows the opposite - improvement in constipation problems - and he is not sure why his work and the work of the Italians clash). Also, the possible risks of painless labor during childbirth and that ACTUALLY being an issue in real life is even less common than those women who pop out a baby in the Walmart parking lot. And as far as sex goes, patients of his who have undergone a PN have reported either the same level of pleasure or INCREASED pleasure during sex post-PN. SWEET! And for recovery.. SO amazing to hear this: Kate addressed the issue of the "3 day recovery" bullsh*t! She says that when you have surgery like this, it is common for women to experience really lengthy recovery times (i.e. 3 days turning into 3 weeks) because the pain we feel is not significant so we THINK we are okay when really our insides are still healing. In reality, if you feel like you want to take a walk 3 days after surgery, that's fine, but don't take a mile when your body gives you an inch. Over-exerting yourself causes increased inflammation which makes it MORE difficult for excised endo to heal. It was actually funny, she described the healing process of excision like this and it totally made sense: this is the kind of pain where you don't feel it 24/7, but it's THERE, like a black eye. When you have a black eye, your face feels fine for the most part, but if you touch it, or smack yourself in the face, you go, OUCH! So... even though we don't feel the "recovery pain," it's important to remember that it's actually still there, and treat our bodies with care Kate says that it should be about 3 weeks before I should be attempting to complete my NORMAL daily activities. What this means is that like, I should never expect myself to be able to tote my backpack around all day on campus before that point. She stressed that before your first 4 weeks of recovery, you should be paying CLOSE attention to your body and TAKING IT EASY. This is ESSENTIAL to making sure that you have a speedy recovery (recovery time for my surgery is 4-8 weeks, so taking the steps Kate has laid out for me is what will make my recovery time closer to 4 weeks instead of 8). AND........ Redwine says I can have sex after 5 weeks Anybody have any handsome 20-something brothers or sons............? HAHA

HI my beautiful ladies!! Sorry it's taken a few days to update you, but MAN does percocet turn me into a mess! I've been SO sleepy and when I try to concentrate on the computer screen everything gets soooo blurry! But here goes: So on Tuesday (the day of my surgery) I was his first patient of the day, so I had to be there at 6am (BLARGH!). The nurses and everyone at the hospital were ASTONISHINGLY nice and caring. Such a difference compared to what I've experienced in the past. Not a single person was rude or dismissive, which made it so much easier for me to head into surgery stress-free. My anesthesiologist came through to talk about what he was going to do for me. They gave me a nausea patch fro behind my ear which worked wonders! He was so hot too, btw, and his wife is named Jessica! Too funny. So, right on schedule, Eric (the anesthesiologist) wheeled me into the OR and the last thing I remember is them sliding me onto the operating table. My parents waited in the lounge for m to be finished. Redwine had originally predicted the surgery to last 1-1.5 hours, and he was under the impresison that I only had endo in my cul de sac. In actuality, the surgery took two hours and he found endo in the cul de sac, on my left ovary, and on my bowel. I stayed in the hospital until 3pm. I got my own room! They make great milkshakes lol. I have my post-op with Dr. Redwine on Monday (the 19th) and should be able to give you all a better idea of what my endo situation was. For now all I know is what I mentioned above. It was in the cul de sac, on my ovary, and bowel. I'll know more by Monday! Now as far as the lap pain goes.. you guys are going to LOVE this: Dr. Redwine uses a cutting edge technique where, after he's done working on you, they do a "deep exhilation" to get out the gas that they had pumped into you. So get this.. I have had ZERO gas aches/pains at ALL! He did such a great job! That being said, this go around I have significantly more surgery pain, probably because of how much he took out and my insides are somewhat like swiss cheese I have been taking Percocet for the pain, and it's been great except that I have a mild allergic reaction to it --my skin starts crawling and I get SO itchy! Although ti also makes me really drowsy, I like it because it handles the pain and doesn't make me nauseous or incoherent. I'm okay with dealing with the itching and the sleepiness in exchange! So that's all I can think of right now off the top of my head.. Please feel free to pepper me with questions!! I'm happy to share details of my experience. I'm just having a little troubel with recall right now because MAN! These drugs!! haha. I can barely read the computer screen lol.. anyway, hope you all are doing well! Thanks for the well wishes and support!!
