So my question is, with endo, how hard (or easy!) do you find doing general cleaning, tidying, sorting etc and also things like cooking/batch cooking, DIY, gardening, shopping. Some days I find doing the washing up too much for me, and other days I can clean and tidy all day AND garden, batch cook etc.
We have a cat and a dog as well as the laziest housemate ever dreamed up, so I feel like I am always cleaning!!!
I should also tell you that I'm a bit of a fussy housewife at heart!!!!

I was just telling Helen I think I'm going to hire a cleaner to come in once a month. I can keep up with the day to day if needed, but have a big cloud hanging over me if a big cleaning is needed. I have 2 cats that don't make it easy!

I was lucky enough to marry a man that's like borderline OCD so my house is always clean. But when I lived alone I would just keep it up all the time, do little things here and there and if I found a day where I had a lot of energy then I'd tornado clean!

I want a OCD man! My twin sis has one and omg her house is amazing...me tho well girls my Christmas tree is still up lol one reason is its a ton of work to get it down but the other is the neighbors complained wt* is that its my house I can have whatever I want in it. I have a vacu flow system and is amazing for dog hair so thankful for that. I carry the house chores tho and my worst part is my closet I can't keep up with it too much stuff. I sweep mop and do toilets 3 of them Seth refuses and on my bad days they go dirty. So be it I am a freak w the clorox bleach wipes and my kitchen counter it has to be clear. When I clean tho I'm on my hands in knees and then it screws me for a few days. Karen I love your idea of a cleaning lady awwww I remember those days when we had one it was so NICE now I'm the hired help and I do not get paid!

I know what you mean about the cloud hanging over you Karen - it's like you work all day, and that's about it energy wise.
It sucks when we're stuck in bed or on the sofa unable to move, yet knowing there is a toilet that needs to be cleaned!!!
I'm trying to have an action plan for this now. Over my 11 day Easter/Royal wedding break, I've done loads, so should be able to keep up for a bit now. I have about 2 bin bags FULL of clothes and stuff to be ebayed, so that's the next job!!

eh, being married to an OCD person has it's pros and cons. The house is always spotless and our finances are impeccable, but it stresses me the hell out! I feel like I can't ever relax!
Oh well, you win some you lose some. LOL

Sometimes it motivates me to clean the house because then he has no choice but to relax. It works quite well. LOL But when he's tornado cleaning and stressed out, it really drives me crazy.

I just try to do little things each day to keep my place in order. My bathroom is always a priority and the dishes. Everything else I just prioritize. While my Mom was here she helped me clean my whole house which was so nice of her. Now I don't have to worry about deep cleaning for awhile. Eventually I would like to hire a cleaning person as well.

I live in a house that was first a log cabin but it has been added onto and is now basically a very very nice open home. the biggest problem is the dirt, 2 dogs a cat and a giant man who comes home daily covered in dirt grease and grime. solve that problem by keeping the couch and chairs covered in blankets but it is really a problem since my house can never be 'nice' looking. looks like a kid's playhouse lol, blankets all over, I have to keep my stuff covered all the time. I also tend to get really fired up and work really hard, then run out of energy by 5 pm and then it's a real struggle just to get things tidy not to mention clean. I am constantly shop-vaccing the linoleum floor of dust and dog hair lol... my dream is that when we build our house, there will be a shop for Warren that he enters the house through, and my laundry room will be there waiting for his giant dirty coveralls and boots etc, and have a shower there. then I can make him get clean BEFORE he comes in the house. I also want to have kitchen and dining room on one level and the 'nice' room upstairs, with my dining set and china cabinet and all AWAY from the dirt area, so I can finally have a wood floor with nice carpets over. only challenge then will be the woodstove and woodbox situation.... *sigh* an Alaskan girl can dream, can't she?

I mostly use weekends and holiday to catch up on housework. Kitchen and bathroom are never disgraceful and only take 10 mins each to get normal looking. Living room is sometimes a bit cluttered, and my lovely expensive coffee table is nearly always littered with crap - medication boxes, envelopes, other bits and pieces. I find it difficult to keep up. I'd love a spotless home but I just don't have the energy. Which is a shame, cos a clean, tidy home is far more relaxing. Except when there's an OCD man constantly clattering about :-P

Helen I'm with you. I'm a work person lol and housework is always catch up for me. It's like I don't budget it in since it's not my priority. i get the damn house clean and shiny, and then I know it's gonna be covered in dirt within hours if not the day. I get a fleeting sense of accomplishment from having every dish washed, I do keep up with the kitchen and bath, since not doing them often would be piggish and s**ttish, however my life is too full for me to spend a lot of time worrying about any of it. We have so much traffic, lots of friends and family stopping by for dinners (this weekend it was Thai food, yum) and lots of guests this year too another one arrives today. My dream is to have a cleaner come weekly and then all I'll have to do is spot cleaning and dishes each day!

For me, I feel my house is a direct reflection of how I'm feeling at the moment. My house is so important to me - I lived in an unfinished house while growing up so things never had their 'place', so I feel so much better when my house is picked up. But lately, I have NO energy and seeing it a mess is just so damn depressing and defeating! I mean, half the time, I don't even notice how bad it is, I'm in a fog. And then when I see it, it makes me sad and it's another reminder of how sh*tty I feel. Thus, I want the cleaner!!

My mom got me started on these all natural cleaning products called Melaleuca and I like them so much better because I don't have to kill myself with noxious fumes. It makes cleaning a little more enjoyable since it makes my house smell so nice.
