I always use pads but I'm trying to find ones that aren't bleached. I hate tampoons.

Gem! I had tons of trouble when I first started using the Diva Cup, but now that I know how to use I'm glad I stuck it out. Basically, I had to just fold the very top but not the bottom so that once it's in place it will open much easier. Also, once it is positioned correctly it wont feel bent or folded. The rim should stay as round as possible to create a seal and then just turn it 360 degrees (or one full turn) if you can turn it easily then you should be good to go. I'm not kidding when I say it helps with the pain. Yes I agree tampons are bad news. Pretty, Have you ever thought of reusable cotton? lunapads.com/I have the Teeny set in Psychedahlia... all natural, love them.

Thanks Cassia I will check it out. I was just thinking if it was the end of the world I need some pads. Oh and a giant bottle of painkillers to get throught the rest of my life. But reusable pads sounds very practical and less wasteful so I'll start there lol

The herb, the herb, the smoke-able kind! Am I the only one?? Nothing else touches my nausea without knocking me out (phenergan), even zofran doesn't touch it. And general relaxation for all the tense muscles; I can feel my whole body and mind take a big sigh of relief.
Of course this isn't legal in most states (UK too, right?), bit I tell all my doctors that this is my primary means of pain control and I've never even heard a single word of discouragement. In fact, most admit I probably have much fewer side effects as opposed to prescription drugs. The ideal thing is to eat it (protect your lungs), but I havent found that to be as helpful. I could just be preparing it wrong though.
Of course for those who struggle with addiction, this could be a slippery slope, but no more than narcotic pain meds...

Meditationoasis.com (sorry, I'm a bit techno-stupid and don't know how to cut and paste link on iPod thingy) has a good guided meditation for pain. It doesn't make it go away, per se, bit it does help you relax around it, and it's amazing what a difference that makes. Pain - anxious thoughts that go with it = more tolerable!

I was at Border's bookstore today looking at their discounts because they are going out of business, and I found this huge book on alternative medicine. I wanted it so badly but I'm so broke! I did skim through the endometriosis section and of course, it preached eliminating meat, eggs, and especially diary because it promotes some type of acid (can't remember the name) which causes inflammation. It said that a diet rich in leafy greens and fish are best and supplements for B vitamins, Vitamin A, C, and E were also good with 3 doses per day of evening primrose. I guess this isn't news to anyone since these are all things we talk about here on the board but I just wanted to share an additional source supporting the importance of diet changes.

I have a diva cup and used it before I was diagnosed with endo. But since my diagnosis, I have not used it. I'm kind of afraid to. I've heard some talk on whether a cup could worsen endo or even cause endo. I'm not sure what to think about it.

magnesium in powder form, from vitamin store helps my pain 90% more than ANY narcotic! you mix about 3 teaspoons with hot water, let it fizz, then add ice and gatorade...by the time i finish the glass, my pain is literally about 90% better!

also, 1500mg of evening primrose oil in morn and evening, made an ultrasound come back NORMAL for first time in almost a year....i was burnt out on vitamins so i stopped taking them for about a month....have been in horrible pain so doc did ct scan and it shows endo everywhere again. my integrative MD swears by vegan diet, evening primrose oil, magnesium and other supplements, but those are the main things. It's a lot of work, but i'm paying the price for stopping all of it (in so much pain!!) i have life long history of (on again, off again) depression so doctors where i live (kansas city) basically don't want to deal with me.

Glad you've seen some results! We have a thread dedicate to magnesium and I know there are some other girls that see benefits from it. Same with evening primrose.

A purring cat on my lap or belly is good for pain. I wonder.....it seems that no one has designed a purring heating pad. Wouldn't that be nice? A furry, warm, heating pad that vibrates with a purr? One where you can here the sound also, as that's nice too. A real cat is the best, but not everyone has a cat (or wants a cat) and you can't control when or where they want to lay on you and whether they will purr or not. So the next best thing would be a heating pad that purrs! I read that cat's purring can help heal also. Cat's that is, but I also read some statements that they think a cat's purring would help heal a person also.
Or does this exist and I just don't know it?

Hi!
I'm not sure if this is the right thread to stick this on, but I scanned the subject lines and this seemed most fitting. I met a Chinese exchange student who lives in my apartment complex and is the sweetest thing, and she told me some really cool stuff about the medicine they practice in Chinese.. I bet you guys already know all this (you definitely know about the caffeine) but she told me that in China, it's common practice not to consume caffeine, cold things (ice cream, ice water, iced tea, etc.), or sugary things, and also not to exercise while on your period. Apparently they think us Americans (can't speak for UK & others out there -- dunno what your habits are!) are IDIOTS for the way that we act on our periods (consuming large amounts of chocolate and ice cream thanks to our cravings haha.. I know I'm guilty!!).
I just found that interesting and thought I'd share!

The whole avoiding cold thing has to do with your chi. I have lots of chinese friends and it's all about balancing your body - the cold stuff is always bad.
