hey ladies,
i am sure there is a thread about this somewhere but how quick was your return to the gym or exercise after your laproscopy?
i forgot to ask my doctor when we organised the surgery as i was in such a shock. and the surgery is tomorrow so i will ask him then as well.
thank you for your help...

I ran two weeks after and that was a HUGE mistake. Only went 1 mile but it kicked my ass..I was back at pilates after a month but had to modify as my tummy was still tender. Everyone is different, though, best to talk it over with your doc.

It's really hard to say... I think many of us have really learned the hard way that if you try to do too much after a lap or any surgery for that matter, it just makes recovery drag out. I appreciate you trying to lose weight, but after a lap, your number one priority should be taking it easy and listening to your body rather than powering through! After a lap is not the time to power through!
In the entire span of your life, taking a few weeks/months off to recover is just a tiny blip and you can get back on track AFTER you get better! We all have very different experiences and time lines for when we feel better so don't assume that my situation will be the same as yours, but just promise you'll at least listen to your body?
Good luck with the lap!!!
(BTW - I'm moving this over to the diet and exercise board.)

It depends. I came straight home after my first lap and did pilates and ironed clothes. I just felt that much better. Probably the better shape you're in physically before the lap, the easier the recovery. I know this is usually the case for childbirth, even w c-sections.
Ask your doctor for advice on what is safe.

I must say, I was in really good shape when I had my lap and I felt like it took me forever. I think we all get this strange day during our recovery where we say, "WOW I feel amazing!" Then we go out and do a bunch of crap and then suddenly realize we weren't as recovered as we thought. Then you get knocked on your ass for another 2 weeks. It never fails.
Even a month after, I still felt sharp pains if I twisted a certain way or reached up high for something. We're all different I guess. The best advice we can give is to just listen to your body. It'll let you know when you're doing to much.

Yep that day that we do it all! Dont do it just rest and listen to your body. Becareful no sense in playing Super Woman when in reality there is nothing more important than your body. The dinner, shopping and exercise can wait until you are well enough to do it without pain.

I was in decent shape before my lap... but when I cleaned my house just a week after my surgery it knocked me on my ass for the whole Christmas break. GOod luck, and take it easy.. your body will thank you for it.

I think it all depends on you and your body. You know when you can not push it and when you can. Everyone is different. My first lap took me a week to feel better and my second longer. I think it depends on what they did when they performed the lap. First one they removed a cyst. Second one they removed 2 cysts and more endo. My friend had one to remove a cyst and went back to work the next day. I felt like such a whimp. But it made me realize we are all different. But the major isssue was to make sure you walk around and get all that gas out. Those gas pain are wicked.
