Today was probably the worst day I've had in a very long time, I feel beat..so I got a call from my surgeon and the "earliest" day he has for my lap is May19th!! Two and a half more months, I can't take it. The only thing that was keeping me together this month was the prospect of surgery and now I just broke down thinking about how much longer I'm going to have to wait. I'm due to go off my BCP in one week and can't imagine the amount of pain I'm going to go through since I'm already popping the T3's on the pill. I want to take charge and try to get a closer surgery date but there's nothing. I feel so defeated... today was spent wallowing and sitting on the couch trying to figure out a solution...I have an appointment with my family Dr friday and the earliest I could get with my gyne is the 9th of March. The pain is almost unbearable but I need to get through the weekend of work to pay my bills. I am so desperate I am considering lupron or depot provera, any other ideas??? I can't even have the surgery in May because I was just offered my dream job to teach nursing and guess when it starts, the beginning of May! I guess I just feel at a loss for the first time dealing with this endo my only other idea is to just show up in emerg and have them admit me for pain control.

Keep getting on the phone babe, pester them on a weekly basis then move to daily. It can work, and at least you'll feel you're doing something. Hang in there honey. Maybe try a TENS machine, diet changes, acupuncture?

Can you try to get on a wait-list? Explain that you have a new job starting and how important it is that you get seen/have surgery. Usually, not 100% of patients have surgery on the scheduled day, so possibly, you could get someone's spot. Same goes for Dr. office visits.
Good luck, lady!

Uh, I remember having to wait a month and a half and that seemed like forever! I don't remember - are you on the diet? Surprising how much that can help pain control, perhaps it'll tone things down a bit between now and then if you can't get in sooner.
We had a member call all the time, asking if there was an earlier appointment (might have been for a doc visit, though I think it was for a lap, I can't remember) and eventually got in quite a bit sooner! A squeaky wheel gets the oil.

yeah Nichole, be that squeaky wheel, and don't forget to make changes to what you can control, be it diet, sleeping enough, drinking more water, and taking time to relax. I don't remember but it seems like you were one who wasn't ready to try the diet? if not forgive me for bad memory Just fyi my physical therapist said she's worked with physicians who won't even consider doing endo surgery on anyone who hasn't been off wheat and dairy for at least 3 months. food for thought.... OK nough ranting. what you need is some sympathy! this sucks but you can keep on trying, and you can work on maybe getting another doctor to advocate for you? is there someone who you can ask to appeal to your surgeon that you can't wait that long? or can you perhaps go to the ER with really bad pain and go that route? if it's an emergency, maybe they can move you up. personally I would also check into what Anastasia said, she's right and you can advocate positively for yourself on all those points. keep us posted K I get really fired up about these cases and really, really want to know how you are doing. really!

Hey - I'm not a doctor but why can't you just keep taking your pills - don't take the sugar pills the cause a bleed and just keep going until your surgery. I did that for 8 years - took my pills for 4-5 months at a time and would only stop for a bleed maybe 3x a year. Ask your doctor but I think that could be a solution. I'm so sorry you are in pain. Have you tried massage or acupuncture? That totally helps - if you are able and have the funds to do these I would try that to get you thru until the surgery. Best luck! I'm sending pain free thoughts your way!

I second massage and acupuncture as well as the diet. All of those things have helped me so much. Light stretching and going on walks does wonders for me as well. I'm sorry that you are in so much pain and have to wait so long for surgery. Like others have suggested keep being that squeaky wheel. I hope you can get in sooner.

thanks so much ladies, I have been on the endo diet since January and at first I had good results but now I'm the same if not worse, I will take your advice and keep calling to be on the wait list and check in with the surgeon weekly until my surgery date. As for the teaching position I can't teach if I'm in pain and can't focus so I will have to call the universityand maybe I can start in the fall semester instead. I dont have a TENS but have been looking into getting one..also when I go to my family doctor I'm going to be very "persuasive" and ask him to either fax a note of urgency or something to my surgeon maybe thatwill help!! who knows..and I take my BCP for 6 months straight so its time to go off maybe I should try depot or lupron until I can get surgery? thank you so much for your advice, I will try just about anything at this point.

Hmm. I found Provera tablets relatively ok with regards to side effects. I personally would try that again before Lupron or Depo Provera cos at least with tablets you have the option of stopping them and it's out of your system quicker. However, I'd also personally try and hold off on meds until the op as it might 'cloud' what they see.

I think right now you've got to try and get through, but at the same time, you should consult a doctor and see about taking your BCP. Hells is right it may affect the endo during the surgery, you want it visible and inflamed so they can see it and get it out of ther! Think about that... and good luck hon I know you're not doing great with this, hang in there k

Nichole I'm in exactly the same position. I have to wait until May also meanwhile I'm counting the periods and ovulations until then. I feel for you and know exactly the pain you are talking about. I hope everything works out for you getting in quicker.
