Hi All, I'm really suffering. I have been battling a UTI (that turned into a kidney infection) for almost 2 months, with tons of antibiotics that didnt help. So now the doc tells me the infection is finally gone. Can endo cause UTIs?? Now I'm having horrible lower back pain, pain down my legs to my feet, fatigue, etc. My gyn suspects endo but no definitive diagnosis can be made unless a laproscopy (sp?) is performed. Should I demand one? What should I do? This has me so miserable!! The pain in my back feels like Ive been on my feet all day. This has me totally depressed and anxious. I recently graduated from college, and I need to find a job ASAP, but its so hard when I feel this way! Ive been trying to exercise, and I just don't feel well. I'm sure my family is sick of me complaining. No one knows what its like unless you're experiencing it. I've had enough of these terrible UTIs and endo. It's ruining my life!!!!

Hey girl I'm sorry to hear you're so down...Endo is such a bugger that way. But I would totally recommend that you push for a lap if you and your doc both suspect Endo. That way you can either get a definite diagnosis, yes it is Endo, or no its not and we need to look deeper into this to figure out what it is. And maybe the lap won't diagnose you with Endo, but laps also can reveal other things that could be the source of your problems. As far as you family goes, don't worry about them being sick of hearing you complain. You're right...they don't know how you're really feeling and what you're going thru. Don't let them make you feel like its all in your head, or that you're being pathetic. Because I know how awful that is because your problems ARE real. Let it all out on here if you need to...we all understand what its like here and how incredibly frustrating any chronic health problems can be, whether its urinary problems, bowel problems, Endo, PCOS, or what have you. But getting some answers as to what you really are fighting with may at least give you some peace of mind, and also a definite route to take that can help alleviate some of your suffering Hang in there girl *hugs*

Big hugs, chica!
Shannon's right. First off, not knowing what you're up against sucks!! Keep pushing your doc for answers, and if it means a lap, then push for a lap! My endo journey started with a ton of urinary symptoms... but no 'real' infection. Although I never figured out the source of it, my doc assumes it was inflammation that caused all the issues, and once the endo inflammation was under control, so were the bladder issues. Your situation could be completely different, of course, but just realize that there could be more going on than just an infection.
Anyway, point is, keep looking for some answers. Once you have an idea of what's going on inside of your body, you can put together an action plan and get your life on track!

Endo can go anywhere honey so sorry your suffering. A lap is your only way to be sure you have enodmetriosis. Like Shannon said it can reveal other issues too. Your health comes first so think of getting better before a job you want to be able to make it to work. Discuss it all with your doc let him know what your up against on a personal level too and maybe the doc will get it all scheduled faster. Sending hugs your way~~~~~

I feel so strongly for you grneyes. Last June I got a UTI which turned into a kidney infection and I spent the whole summer curled up in the fetal position. We already suspected endo before the infection, but the infection definitely seemed to increase my pain. Lo and behold, i was diagnosed a few monhts later.
I definitely feel for you, struggling to exercise, being tired all the time, and worrying about complaining too much but not being able to help it. And I definitely think you should ask for a laporoscopy because the sooner you find out what you have, the sooner you can start doing something about it.
I send lots of hugs and smiles your way. We all feel for you!

Someone so wisely told me the other day there's a difference between 'feeling depressed' and 'feeling depressed about how you feel'. For some reason, that really helped me get a better handle on what I was coping with! Don't know if it'll help you, but I felt compelled to pass it along.

I"m just getting caught up and replied to your other thread. Hang in there. I went thru an awful bladder infection when I first joined these boards and it was awful - it got to a point where I could only pee if I drew a hot bath and had to pee in the tub but hey, that was better to make due until the culture came back than having to hit the ER to get a catheter. There is also endometriosis sciatica, didn't mention that in my other reply to you -ask the doctor about that as well. You might want to check into seeing a chiropractor as well. There are certain areas of the spine that are connected to the bladder/kidneys. My issue is my L5 is out of alignment and the L5 also controls the bladder. The body is so complex. I can say since my L5 is getting back into place my urinary issues have improved dramatically.

Well, since I'm on a roll I might as well just dump all my feelings out. Since seeing the specialist today I am angry at endo. I am angry that it ate thru my insides to INSIDE my freaking vagina! I'm like some freak of nature, the pelvic pain specialist has only seen 1 or 2 other cases like this in ALL of the people he's seen. It makes me sick literally what endo is capable of doing. I hate how it's controlled the past 1.5 years of my life TTC. I hate that it's taken away my dream of knowing what it will feel like to carry a baby, to know how it's going to feel when you get the first kick, to know what giving birth feels like and to know the joy of your own baby made out of love smiling at you for the first time. I'm tired and can't do this anymore. I hate you endo! Hate you! I'm so sad and angry that this disease is so destructive. Don't get me wrong, I have a wonderful life. I have a great marriage, a great job, a wonderful family I should be thankful for what I have and I am. I want to be the one to make the call if I want a family, I don't want some stupid disease telling me what to do but it's basically come to that for my own health and really safety. I am playing russian roulette if I don't treat this with drugs etc. I can't keep hoping that this month will be the month we will get blessed with a miracle - it's over....and I'm sad.

Thanks. Took the RX to Walgreens this morning, went to pick it up at lunch : ( I'm interested in learning about the Femara. For now, I"ll use the pill for the next 4 mths, enjoy the summer and then see. Thanks for the support everyone! This is very very hard to work thru sometimes and I"m sure I'll be doing alot of cyber crying as the days go on. For those of you who are believers, please pray for me that the transition on the pill goes well and that I am free from any bleeding side effects. ~ CG

Hey chica, you really do have every right to be angry at endo. It's not fair to have this messing with your life the way it is. I think you will see yourself through this though. Maybe this is just a set back for a while and there may be a possibility that things could turn around for you. In the mean time, get well and enjoy life for a while. This has been so stressful for you and you deserve a break! And of course, your friendly neighborhood endo girls are always here for you

Dang it! Now I have peeing issues! I was just recently treated for a UTI and I knew I had it but was ignoring it for a long time. I went through a round of antibiotics and I think it's back again. I've had a kidney infection before too and it was HORRIBLE!
I have read that people who get chronic UTIs could have what's called a enterovesical fistula which is an opening in between the rectum and vagina. Bacteria can get through this hole or thin tissue and cause chronic UTIs. I'm not sure how this is diagnosed but I ran across emedicine to see the causes: Connections may result from (1) incomplete separation of the two systems during embryonic development (eg, failure of the urorectal septum to divide the common cloaca), (2) infection, (3) inflammatory conditions, (4) cancer, (5) trauma or foreign body, or (6) iatrogenic causes (presenting either postoperatively or as a treatment complication).
We ALL have inflammation issues in the posterior cul-de-sac so I wonder if this is why we all get chronic UTIs?

I've had painful urination for like 8 months now but I always ignored it. But ever since they treated me for the UTI, I felt like it got better and now it's worse. I wonder if I have some crazy resistant bacteria. Shoulda left it alone! I was fine with the urine problems but now it's worse.

I think it is a colonoscopy to check if you have that condition. One of the specialists at the Cleveland Clinic deals only with patients that have fistula. Sorry you are now having issues with UTI's gosh Jenaya it does not ever stop. I know most of us already know the cranberry juice method of treatment but here is another home remedy using baking soda A mixture of 1/2 tsp baking soda in eight ounce glass of water can be very helpful on the first signs of urinary tract infection. The presence of baking soda in your system raises the acid-base balance of the acidic urine. I also read that artificial sweetner is a trigger for some woman. Here is a link for more information of the fistula condition www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002365.htm
