So it's the dead of winter hear and super cold, but for some reason I've been having a hankering for ice cream lately. There are TONS of options for dairy-free ice cream at my new local co-op, and I tried a rice milk one a few weeks ago but it wasn't very good. Left a weird, super sweet but almost bitter aftertaste. Since there were lots of other options, I figured I'd try some others. You know, for research purposes for all of you. ;D I ignored all the soy ones and found a pretty good one!
Purely Decadent is the brand, and it's made with coconut milk. I got the chocolate flavor and it's a pretty good replica of normal ice cream! It's made from organic ingredients and sample tested to ensure there aren't any common allergens in it. The ingredients are organic coconut milk, organic agave syrup, chicory root extract, cocoa (processed with alkali), carob bean gum, guar gum, and natural flavor. Dairy free, soy free, gluten free, just all around better for us endo girl on a diet!
If anyone else has any endo-diet friendly ice cream brands, please share!

This sounds amazing!! I wonder if they do it over here? The only one I've found has soy in it - Swedish Glace - although I do eat it for a treat sometimes!!!

I've tried the Purely Decadent ice creams as well since I am an ice cream fanatic. I've tried the green tea and a cherry one. The cherry kind was my favorite.

Sounds delicious! Can't wait to try them. I didn't know that cocoa was endo friendly?

Soy is typically one to avoid. The ones I found by them were soy-free. Maybe they have a few different lines?

Strange. All the flavours I looked at, including the cherry one and peanut butter and plain chocolate and vanilla all had soy bean and soy something else. Maybe next time you buy some check to see if your ingredients are the same. Could they make different variations based on where its sold?

The grocery store I found it at is a co-op so they often have different, more hippie-ish brands than the typical store. I'm POSITIVE it said 'NO SOY' all over the container. The one I had was made with coconut milk. Looks like they have different lines: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_Mountain_%28company%29

I eat a brand called Coconut Bliss. It is AMAZING. Best ever. No soy, no dairy, no gluten, low glycemic, organic. It is expensive but I feel worth the money. I can't have gluten, soy or dairy. The flavors are chocolate peanut butter, chocolate, coconut, chocolate macadamia, vanilla. I think they have more but not sure. My fave is chocolate peanut butter. I have used the brand mentioned above and they make their ice cream some with soy and some with coconut milk. Just have to check. I prefer Coconut Bliss. It's amazing.

It's been over 42C (107F) for 3 days now where I live, so my willpower has gone out the window when it comes to ice cream! If only you could ship the coconut ice cream to Australia without it melting... ;0)

I'd gladly trade you a package of coconut ice cream for even a fraction of that warmth!!

I bought a really cheap ice cream maker - it was on clearance and was a tiny one. I tried making my first endo-friendly batch today. Big fail! I think I'm going to return the machine... The motor smells like it's overheated and one of the freezing bowls cracked in the freezer! I had such high hopes. Sigh.
