With the holidays coming up (I got the idea from Gossip Girl, Lily and Rufus' anniversary celebrations) I'm making flowers, some from last years' Christmas napkins, some from tissue paper. They're turning out nicely so I'd like to get a material like organza and make something similar for my bedroom walls and my sister's bedroom. I'll post some pics when they're done. I'd like to try paper roses next when I've bought some card.

I want to make photo albums. I have so many pictures that are all over the place. I just can't find the time during the semester. I don't even care if it's all scrap booky. I just want them in books.

i am knitting. It's soooooooo relaxing. I no longer have extra brain cells at the end of the day so I'm knitting a really cool scarf here is the pattern, there are 2 rows, cast on 39 stitches, I'm using #10 needles and medium yarn... not too thick.... ROW 1: k1, p3, repeat to end (last stitches will be k3) ROW 2: k1, p1, k3, p1 repeat p1,k3 to end, knitting final stitch.... it makes a neat pattern that is identical on each side..... will post pix tomorrow.... god I'm a knitter! I must be old.....

I'm impressed at all the things you girls do! My making-things-for-fun-stuff always revolves around tools and wood. And, no, I'm not talking bedroom talk. Here's the latest - got some old wood base trim at the Habitat Re-Store for $.50/foot, stripped it down, refinished it, and made some frames. Here's the small one. I made a large one for a poster but haven't finished it yet. I love old wood - it has a lot of character and they don't honor it these days like they used to... I feel like I owe it a new life in some way or another! (The pic is pretty grainy but you get the idea.) Attachments:

I love making things and being really money saving - I love this website and in particular this forum: forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.php?f=33It's all about being thrifty and money saving and a lot of creating your own things!! I love it!! It has given me ideas for Xmas presents which are lovely but don't break the bank Edit to say that I love cooking and making treats - this Xmas I have done Sloe Gin and dairy free flavoured chocolates, and when the sloe gin is done I will save the sloes and make liquor chocolates with them!!

Gem and Chica - I love baking too... Years past I go crazy about this time of year. One year I went for making candied nuts and made loads of gift bags for friends. I did candied pecans, curried cashews, and peanut brittle. This year I am seriously considering making a big vat of *pate a choux (puff pastry for the non-Martha Stewarts lol) and do a croquembouche which is a tower of cream puffs with spun sugar holding it up. I am doing this on Monday since my birthday is Tuesday and we have a big party at a local bar.... lol anyways, I've been avoiding my kitchen since starting the endo diet but baking lovely things at the holidays really gets me happy... thanks for the reminder.... *forgive me if you all know what this is already. Most americans aren't into french pastry as much as I used to be... i am NOT assuming you are clueless.... just because I am.... lol

Sounds fab, Pretty! A friend and I used to bake cookies every year. I told her a few months ago that I'd have to back out this year and she got really upset. They got a new house and remodeled the kitchen and one of the things she thought about when they were designing it was us making cookies! So I think I'll find a recipe that I can eat and bring it with and help with her cookies. I may take a few to bring to work but nothing like I used to take (and eat). My grandma has THE BEST sugar cookie recipe in the world, they just melt in your mouth. Sigh. And yes, I love wood, too. Particularly old wood, 40+. And I'm not talking about the kind on trees!

Hahaha! I love what you did there Karen, you and my sis would get on well as she loves to make things from 'resistant' materials but hasn't done in ages. I sometimes buy her clay to encourage her back towards her art but I guess she'll start again when she's ready. Do you make furniture pieces or decorative pieces for the wall at all? That would be amazing if your frame is anything to go by! I am crap at baking but I do make a mean lace cookie. They have heart attack written all over em.
