For those of you who get the rectal, intestinal, and bladder pressure and pain, how does your pain relate to your cycle?
Do you get your pain all the time?
Does it get worse before your period? If so, how long before?

They were some of my worst symptoms and I had them all month long, didn't particularly relate to cycle at all other than some got worse at ovulation, like the pressure, and I always got constipated before my period!

Never related to my cycle but I do have them. My constipation could be everyday if I did not take Miralax to releive it. Its horrible.

I have those issues, but throughout my cycle. Although, i'm on continuous birth control and don't really have a cycle. I get pain when i pee. It hurts like crazy when i first start peeing. Also, i have bowel issues too. i get constipated some times, and at others, i'll be sitting around then its like all of a sudden, i have to have a bowel movement RIGHT NOW, but its not diarrhea. its all very annoying! Oh well. Could be worse.

The rectal/intestinal pain is bad this month. It didn't start until I started bleeding though. A few hours after I started bleeding, the bad pain started. Of course, it got worse and it was bad today. I am so tired of this.

Well, I am back again, day 30 of cycle. I'm still on the Micronor and I am, once again, feeling the intense pressure in my rectum along with bloating (could barely button my pants this morning). No bleeding yet. I don't know what to think... should I continue on with the Micronor (this will be my 3rd full cycle on it)? Honestly, I just want my periods to go away.

I've had bowel issues pretty much since around the time I first got my period. I've seen doctor after doctor and they all said IBS without even doing any tests to rule other things out. I've always been constipated, gas pain, UTIs, bloated all the time, and nausea. Lately I've been having blood in my stool, so my doctor is referring me to see a GI specialist and to get a colonoscopy done as well.
I'm currently on Depo Provera and have been bleeding the entire time, most of the time passing a bowel movement is painful. But before when I was on the pill, during my period, it was gawd awful, it was so painful that I was actually digging my nails into my stomach it was so bad.

I'm glad your going to the GI doc. The blood in the stool could also be upper gastric related. Peptic ulcers for chronic Ibuprofen/Nsaids is pretty common so make sure if you have any upper gastric heartburn that you mention it to the gastro doc so he can check it out. Also (having gone through this) make sure you gastro doc is knowledgeable about endo. Mine didn't even know what it was and we payed for the colonoscopy and he didn't take any biopsys like he should have. It was super frustrating. My pain in the bowels/bladder was initially worse during my period but in the last three years it is constant. Lots of random pain, constipation, diarrhea and bladder pain. Hope this was helpful?

Omak, that's not entirely true about the upper gi tract bleeding. Typically if you are showing "blood" in the stool it is coming from somewhere toward the end of your gi tract like the rectum. If you are truly bleeding from your upper gi it would come out black and what is referred to as "black tarry stools." The reason it is black is because when blood goes through the stomach it has been through the digestion process. That is how you can distinguish between where the bleeding could be coming from. So blood in the stool is NOT an indication of an upper GI Issue. It's somewhere lower.

Conversely, if you are vomiting bright red blood then it's coming from somewhere way up high in the gi tract like the esophogus. If it were somewhere in the stomach then your vomit would be black and that's what we refer to as "coffee ground emesis." again, same thing, that blood has been digested which is why it's black.

I bled from my back passage from around 16 or so - supposedly piles but these days I'm not so sure. It's not necessarily something to panic about, I keep getting told by docs that it's not that unusual, but ALWAYS worth asking your docs about!

Yes definitely worth asking about for sure! But if you ever have black stuff coming out either end.... NOT GOOD.
Sorry "itsmebaby" for the thread hijack. I guess I should tell you that I have had those stabbing pains in the rectum. They were usually worse right before my period and also during my period.

I'm having those stabbing pains in my rectum right now and it's incredibly uncomfortable. It's hard to sit down and I have yet to find something that helps the pain. I just started continuously birth control with seasonique. This around the time that I would typically start my period and I think my body is confused. I haven't felt good at all this week and I'm concerned I'm not going to be able to work much this weekend. I'll just wait and see I suppose.

I hope it passes painttheseconds I have had the hard to sit down days too. Rest as much as you can lay down if that feels better.
