I'm starting Micronor today... Anyone have any advice???
I hate reading the side effects websites because sometimes its a self-fulfilling prophecy. I really want this to work...
Doctor really wanted me to be on the Mirena IUD, but because of all that I've read, I got scared to have one inserted. *sigh*
What do you think?

Hi - I took generic Micronor (it was called Camila). I didn't notice any side effects and I usually get a lot of side effects when I take medicine. It worked well for about 3-4 months, but then it stopped supressing ovulation. So all my pain came back. My Dr. did a lap (I have stage 2/3 endo) and he switched me to Norethindrone Acetate 5mg. It is also a progestin pill like Camila. I have a lot of side effects with it though - headaches, moodiness, etc. My Dr. initially recommended Mirena, but like you I was also scared. A girl I work with had horrible side effects from it. She had it taken out after a month. I hope the Micronor works for you! It was great for me while it lasted ~Laura

Thanks so much for your response! Any idea how/why the Micronor stopped suppressing ovulation? Is the new pill working to reduce your pain at all?

I was on Micronor also. I felt amazing on it for about 5-6 months. It didn't help get rid of the pain from my periods, though they were slightly lighter for a few months, and then I started getting a bit heavier. But for me, I felt amazing because the progesterone helped to rid me of my daily nausea. The reason I went off it was because I started bleeding every 7-12 days, and it would last 5 days at a time. So I was essentially bleeding all the time. I am now on 5mg provera/day, but I have some not so fun side effects with it too.

I am wondering if I will have any bleeding, as my periods are always very light my whole life.
Perhaps those who have had the breakthrough bleeding always had heavy periods?
Probably too simplistic a thought ;-) But I am hoping this works!

It could be possible. My periods have always been on the heavier side, and always lasted 7 or 8 days

Ugh... and I am now getting diarrhea...
Not sure if the lower abdominal cramps are from that or what...
I finished my period a couple days ago, and am on day 2 of the Micronor.
Not sure if I should stick with this... if its progesterone that is triggering my diarrhea each month, then this is a lost cause.

Well, the diarrhea has tampered off (for now). I just have a little ache in my lower abdomen, but nothing I can't handle. Been on Micronor (Jolivette) for 4 days now.

Well, it is 28 days after the start of my last period and I started bleeding this afternoon at work. Nothing like being at work when your period starts... I have had better luck so far, throughout the month, with regards to intestinal pain, on this pill... so I am hoping that my period will be a better one this month. I started feeling the pressure around my abdomen and back yesterday - kinda felt it coming, like usual. Took a 600mg ibuprofen as soon as I started bleeding.
First period on the progestin-only pill. Here's to hopin...

This is sort of turning into a chronicle here... sorry. Just wanted to report in case it could help someone else.
Day 2 of period and I have seen improvement since my last period (this is my first period on Micronor). This time, I only feel soreness/aches that I can definitely handle. So far, no sharp pains or pain in my intestines when I try to go to the bathroom, or pain in my bladder.

Oh, one more thing. It is true that these pills increase your appetite. I have noticed this in the past 2 weeks. Feels almost like I did when I was pregnant... couldn't eat enough!

Okay, I definitely spoke too soon. Last evening, it started gradually getting worse. And now, today, the sharp pains in my intestines, up my rectum, when I start chewing, and when I sit down to go to the bathroom, are back.
Damn.

It will take time before you notice any positive effects from it. When I was on it, it took about 3 months for me to really notice it changing my periods, but then I also started having a lot of withdrawal and breakthrough bleeding. It wasn't nearly as painful, but it was painful enough to have me worn out and miserable (but I had also bled for 3-1/2) weeks almost straight through, at one point) That is just how MY body reacted though. Generally any birth control will take a few months to really get into your system and work with your body. Hopefully you see better results from it then I did. Although I didn't hate it when I was on it.

Good thought, thank you. I did notice that my sharp pains did not last as long as they did before. And I'm not having diarrhea, which is a plus!

Been taking this now for over 2 months. Last period was a bit painful with the rectal and intestinal (bladder too) cramps. I also started bleeding again 15 days after the start of my last period (this is a new thing for me).
My OBGYN says it can take a few months to normalize... I am just going to wait it out.
