I love how your guy's cats have shorter hair. My cat has SUPER long hair. I had to post this pic so you can see how hairy she is. HAHA it's cute, but high maintenance. Attachments:

I know. You have to brush the really hairy ones all the time, and even then, they leave tufts everywhere.

You all have beautiful kitties! I've got two kitties and 4 dogs! Lol. It's a fur filled house around here. My husband is working out of state for about a year so I'm a single mom to all of them, plus a pet rat and a saltwater tank. Love them all though!

yes and my girl is an outside kitty, and we get a lot of rain, so imagine a cat just like the one above, except COVERED IN MUD! now that is a happy cat. I think your kitty does have longer hair than little Puff baby. seriously tho it was too funny, we all 3 have sister cats! cool.

Does anyone know how to get cat urine smell out of the carpet? My cat was peeing on the carpet when she got her UTI and we can't get the friggin smell out. It's really bad! I feel like we've tried everything. We pulled up the carpet, cut the pee section out of the pad, washed that in the washer and it seemed to work. But the carpet is not something we can cut out. We've tried shampooing it, bleach, peroxide, vinegar, laundry detergent, pet stain deoderizor, lysol antibacterial lemon scent cleaner, boiling hot water... NOTHING IS WORKING!!!

I'll have to ask my mom what she uses. I think it's this foamy stuff she puts down, then she shampoos the carpet, on top of that. Cat urine is the WORST smell.

Ugh my cats are standard short hairs and still despite brushing there seems to be fur lurking here and there on clothes and household items. The Dyson Animal looks like it has a full cat inside it when I've vacuumed my whole home. Jenaya Luther has a really bad habit of this still, he seems to do it if he isn't getting attention. I have to put down bicarbonate of soda after I've bleached and disinfected the carpet. It's a deodoriser (you can put it in your fridge to absorb strong smell) and seems to pull up the smell. Alternatively have google/search through Yahoo answers?

yeah I've done the google searches which is why I have now tried shampooing it, bleach, peroxide, vinegar, laundry detergent, pet stain deoderizor, lysol antibacterial lemon scent cleaner, boiling hot water LOL . Nothing is working! I haven't tried baking soda yet though. I'm just frustrated because cleanliness is a HUGE deal to my poor husband's OCD and it's freaking him the hell out. And if he's freaking the hell out then I'M freaking the hell out.

Hmmm. I think you should shout 'as5hole' at your carpet. That would be my reaction at this point. Plus your husband will be amused rather than vexed by this display.

HAHAHA!
I think the reason why the smell is so difficult to get out is because we actually have no idea how long she's been peeing in that corner. We just happened to see her pawing at it one day and my husband walked over and smelled the spot and we finally discovered the pee. So when we started cleaning it, it started to bring out the layers and layers of pee and now it's really bad. Shoulda just left it alone! There was no stain, we couldn't smell it until we started wetting it with all this cleaner. Now it's really bad. Plus she had an infection so the smell is 10x worse.
We're both frustrated and kinda lost for what to do. It smells pretty bad.

Neutradol? What about a powder that you can leave on then vacuum up? Try the bicarb overnight?

I've heard the pet stain enzymes work, but you have to let them dry completely. I had problems with one of my cats and finally just up and pulled the carpet up, sealed the floor, and installed wood over the top. Most days it's fine but if it's really humid, I can still catch a whiff. Luckily, once I put the floors down, she only pees outside her litter box, which is on tile so it's easier to clean up. Damn cats!

Helen, we also tried the power that you vacuum up. I swear if we don't get this cleaned, my husband and I will end up killing each other. He's so f*cking stressed out over this f*cking stupid pee in the carpet. His OCD is really really pissing me off especially since I'm the person he takes everything out on. I seriously can't take it anymore.
We have now rented another carpet shampooer, replaced the pad, soaked the floor in everything imaginable, and are now soaking the carpet in hot water and laundry detergent. If this doesn't work, look out for the news of a homicide/suicide in DC.

Seriously I'm shaking I'm so pissed off at how he's acting. I'm absolutely infuriated. How of all mother f*cking things that could happen to us, piss on a f*cking carpet has him in the most extreme anxiety and anger. And I'M the one that has to deal with it. What the f*ck is gonna happen when we REALLY have a problem? This is NOTHING! NOTHINGGGGG!!!!!
I'm so close to punching things and breaking sh*t. It takes A LOT to infuriate me this badly to the point where my hands shake. If he doesn't calm the f*ck down I'm going to lose it.

If you try the bicarb, you have to let it dry out first. Just think, while it's wet it'll smell worse cos it's lovely damp molecules able to float around as opposed to a dry carpet with nothing much to carry the scent. Having dealt with an OCD sufferer I know what you mean. In cases like this they can't leave it alone and just lock on. And you want to punch each other In my experience, I have a separate mop and mop/dab it clean: I mix up a really hot mixture of scented bleach, boiling water, Flash (general disinfectant) Zoflora (some old fashioned stuff that works on everything and smells lovely for ages) and Ariel gel (laundry detergent) as well as some stuff called Cillit Bang. I don't know what it is but it's strong as household cleaners go. I kinda soak the area with the wet mop and then keep dabbing it dry with the mop. Once it's dry I put bicarb down, vacuum it up the next day. Then neautradol shake and vac, and then vacuum again. Then I spray with an aerosol antibacterial called Dettol, apple flavour. That's to kill any bacteria left from his pee. It's the freaking ammonia that makes the pee smell stick!
