The three ovulation indicators in the majority of women are:
1. An increase in basal body temp after you've ovulated 2. A raised cervix 3. Egg-white cervical fluid (Read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wexler for the full details)
But, many women have their own that let them know that they are about to/have ovulated. I had been on birth controls for years but went off it this spring and started temping to figure out how my cycle and body works (I'm NOT TTC) and after going through a few cycles, I'm amazed at the signs I see in my body to let me know I'm close to ovulating. In addition to the ones above, I figured I'd share and see what other people's bodies do!
My ovulation indicators: 1. Bloated. I'm severely bloated a good 3-4 days up until I ovulate. Even the fat pants are at their limit. Ugh. 2. The tendon or ligament in my right leg (connecting my leg to my pelvis) gets really tight and my leg pops when I walk a few days before I ovulate. Weird. 3. Zits. I get at least one or two nasty, hard, impossible to pop zits on the back of my neck at my hairline. I also get them in - get this - my EYEBROWS of all places! Nasty! 4. This one is a bit weird - my vulva gets really sensitive about a week before hand. It's hard to explain the feeling. It doesn't hurt, but it feels all tender. I've only noticed it the last 3 cycles and can't quite figure out what it means.
Anyone else?

I'm curious to see how my body changes over the next 6 months while I'm on Provera tablets, and how long my cycle takes to shut down. Still don't know what this med actually does.....
Previous ovulation indicators of ovulation for me have been a lot of pressure bearing down, particularly when sitting on loo and gravity takes over. Felt like a small melon trying to push its way out!

I get all of that plus whatever ovary is ovulating will hurt like hell and my entire leg on that side will be sore and I have to limp around for the day. It's so strange!

A few nasty and hard to kill spots, headaches and the cervical fluid. Oh and steam coming out of my ears and snorting as I search the crowd for a man worthy of my horny rant! Haha! The erm, love pangs kill me these days. Ever since I came off Gonapeptyl I get horribly hot and bothered every month around ovulation time.
