We were shut down for about a week! It was crazy. This region isn't equipped to handle blizzards because they are rare. It was awesome. I was off school for a week! I didn't do a damn thing!

We've had a ton of thunderstorms lately, way more than usual. Had a big one this morning, then it seemed to clear up a bit. Had dinner with some friends and it started to rain just as we left. It's a good 15 minute drive back home and let me tell you, it was a freaking downpour. I don't think I've ever driven in so much rain! Some of the roads had very high water and at one point, I could tell none of my tires were on the road! I saw a few cars stalled out on the side of the road. There are tornado warnings in the area, but luckily my area is in the clear now. Freaky!

Just to show how different it is 2 hours away from Karen, we've got some angry looking clouds but just a few sprinkles. We're supposed to get some storms tonight, but we'll see. Just an FYI - we get karens weather a few hours after she gets it because things seem to go towards the lake, but it usually all dies down once it gets to the lake. Although it's worse in the winter because of the lake.

Yeah, I was just thinking about that, that you might be seeing it soon!
The sirens were going off in town, there were reports of large hail to the east of me, and lots and lots of areas that were prime tornado conditions. Luckily, it's just down to a few sprinkles now. I hope it runs out of steam by the time it makes it to you!!
A tornado hit my house when I was in 1st grade and I'll never forget it. It completely racked the entire house - the bottom half was fine, but it looked like someone just twisted the top half of the house. There were 4-6 inch gaps in the corners of our rooms! Luckily the entire roof didn't come off, but it still had a lot of damage and we had a lot of damage on our property. Our house was right next to a boy scout camp - lots of nature trails, trees, etc., and acres and acres of pine trees were just flattened. One of them ended up a mile away on someone's lawn. We really lucked out that we didn't get more damage, but it's traumatized me for life!

We rarely ever get tornado's here, i think because of the lake, they ususally go over the lake. The radar looks like the bad stuff by you will go right under us.

Phew, glad it'll avoid you!
Just heard from two of my friends... They both were driving through water that was up to their hoods!! Scary stuff. Luckily, both made it home ok, but one ended up pulling over for a bit because she was too scared to go! Seriously, worst storm I've driven through!!

Our tv is cutting in and out, and keep getting interrupted with storm warnings.

Dont know how hot it is where everyone else is but it's crazy here. If you can convert celcious to ferinheit, its 37 degrees celcious but feels like 45 with the humidex.

It is humid as hell here, has been the last few days. As my dad would say, it's been a ball-sticker.

Definatly a ball-sticker! My son's asthma is acting up because of the humidity (and his POS father smoking by him). Big storms tonight. ROCK

In Homer, it has been raining for 3 days solid. We have a special contraption under our house that pumps water out of under the foundation, it turns itself on as needed (loudly! repeatedly!) and it's been working hard. the rain will stop for a couple minutes every hour or so, but I'm not fooled! It will start up again soon! I feel like a salmon swimming around.

The forecasts were predicting a blizzard starting last night and holy cow, did I wake up to one! Between Monday night - now we got about 15 inches of snow, and the winds are blowing so hard that there are drifts everywhere, some as high as 6 feet. There are reports of even snowplows getting stuck! It's awesome. I know it's worse in the Milwaukee/Chicago area, too!
I'm usually pretty cocky about driving in the snow, but I'm smart enough to just stay home today... Good thing, too, because I have a cold and am still kind of out of it!
