It's really freakin' cold!!! Even for Canada. Minus 35 for the past 3 nights, and hasn't lurched above -25 in the day. It's a cold snap, alright; if it doesn't let up by end of week, will be sticking pins in my voodoo doll of the weatherman.
They say you can tell a Canadian because he'll get a wild look in his eyes and suck on his icy mitts, when you say the word 'Hawaii'....

Karen..these are typical december temperatures for Ontario. Last year in November, at least where I am, we had 76 cm of snow

Okay, lol... Now, I'm never one to really complain about how cold it is, but earlier, I almost did - then, I thought about all of you who live where it's REALLY cold. 21F is just balmy, compared to all ^that^.
I think even my horniness would shut down in those temps...

Im wondering if the birth rate is higher in colder climates? After all, us Canucks need to find some way to stay warm,

Well I haven't herd about more baby's due to cold, but there are more baby's concieved around the end of harvest time... And yes this cold weather is typical for Canadian weather, but I think we reacted poorly to it because we are use to more snow that usually comes late October, and didn't come this year until late November.... Today was warmer here only minus 22.

Gotta differ with my countrywomen on the relative normalcy of this Canadian weather! Not that we don't get -35 at least once or twice a year (and I'm usually a tough prairie chick from the land of square tires)... but -45C (before wind chill) is getting outside of my range! We've had very little snow yet in these parts, just cold.
If the cold weather snugglebunnies hypothesis is true, then there should be a spike in the Canadian birth rate every September... wonder if that's so? Or has the advent of central heating stymied the sex lives of Northerners?

We had just heavy frost. The wind chill was such that little icicles that looked like snow were falling out of a clear night sky, but being in the northwest of the UK, on the Atlantic side but sheltered by the bulk of Ireland, we've escaped the worst of the continental freeze that's affecting Helen's area and the whole East side of the UK. Liverpool is very lucky weather-wise! It's effing freezing here though

We've had more snow over the weekend, it also rained a little yesterday then snowed again so it's really icey. A family gathering got cancelled last night cos of it. Blows my mind that in this day of modern technology a bit of snow still causes chaos here. Plenty of other countries deal with it nearly all year round!

We had snow, then it promptly rained. I feel so bad for the rest of the country, even the rest of the north west England area is snowed under... but I wish we had some pretty snow scenes! Note to God: please make this Christmas Day when I won't be going out!

We got snow last night, about 4cm, and it is now snowing quite hard again today, I love this white clean fluffy stuff and just before christmas (Makes it enchanting). It was looking a little brown from all the sand the city puts down to make it not so slippery.
