(As a former math geek, here's how I taught kids to remember the sign: < looks like a sideways upper case L, right? That's _L_ess than. The one that doesn't look like an L is greater than!)
I had elevated creatinine and I believe it was my GFR (I think) was 62. Some medications can cause a strain on the kidneys so she had me go off one of them. When I retested, they were back below normal. Just something to consider - meds can have an effect on some of those levels, though I can see why you'd want some more clear answers.

Now I'm confused on that sign thing. lol I was say that the pac man eats the bigger number. So if you have your levels >59 that would mean that your levels are greater than 59. Am I getting myself all mixed up? It's been a long day. lol Sorry Omak, I haven't been myself the last few days.

that's awesome that none of us are sure about the sign. I was sure the way you said it Karen was right but I also looked it up and found someone say it the other way. Good thing I don't homeschool my kids... oh wait! LOL I always have to look it up to remember which way is which before I explain it to the kids. You would never guess I got an A in my Math 100 level class in college.

It just depends on how you write the problem. I took a year of college calculus LOL and I'm confused. I think I'll trust Mean Ms. Olsen. LOL She was the teacher!

Side note:
50 < 60 (50 is less than 60) 60 > 50 (60 is greater than 50)
And, yes, Pac-man (or the alligator) always eats the bigger number. Sometimes kids didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned Pac-man...

LOL OMG that's funny..
I was wondering, does anyone get hot flashes in your ears? Sometimes my hot flashes happen in my ears. They get really hot inside my head and ear canal and it's the freakiest feeling. I googled what it was and everything said they were hot flashes.

Well what's funny is that these weird hot flashes in the ear never leave my ears. My previous hot flashes usually start in my upper back and then wrap around me like a blanket. These ear flashes just feel like my brain is on fire but it never radiates anywhere. I miss the ER karla. I live vicariously through you.

Missed my doctors appointment. I was called in to work night shift and since it was last minute I didn't get a chance to sleep a head of time. I was supposed to have a follow up for my follow up, I have no idea what that means and It wasn't with my primary care physician. It was with my other doctor. I came home this morning absolutely deliriously tired since I had been awake for 27 hours straight. Crawled into bed and half asleep told Tony to cancel it. He got me a new appointment with my gal. I had a horrid episode last night. I was palpitating so bad and I didn't' think to bring food with me (the curse of working call in) so I was hungry. (ate a late lunch, no dinner) I had to go help in the ER for a little while and grab some pretzels and that was at 430. By five I was getting so nauseous and down right miserable that I forced myself to eat a nasty dry soda cracker. It worked to slow down my heart rate (140) but my BP was HIGH! It was a long night. I only got 3 shifts this month so I had the mindset, "if they call, take it" about work. My heart is still palping today after sleeping until this afternoon. It was the closest I came to gaging on a patient that I helped with in the ER. It was so unbelievably gross and I was already nausea's. I don't normally have that issue but I have been on a lot of mecclinzine lately due to constant nausea and not eating for that long, and being awake that long... not a good mix. I'm so glad I'm "healthy" and there is nothing wrong with me except a little extra weight. Good thing huh? (I shudder to think what I would have told the doctor today if I had made that appointment, probably would have been ugly)

Results for my Sigmoidoscopy came to today. I knew from research that Colitis is NOT found in the sigmoid so not a big surprise there was none. I asked him about that too and he totally said "oh if you have some it should be there". I wish doctors would start to realise that with the internet being what it is, we are a new breed of patients. They can't just say something and we have to take it as true. I have all the library resources of the national school search database at my finger tips because of my college. BUT that's not my biggest beef. Once again instead of saying "make an appointment so we can figure this out". I got the "there's nothing wrong with you speech". I also asked for them to run the biopsy for Endometriosis. They did not do that. There is no record of them even making the attempt. I told the RN packing the biopsy and the doctor. So I think once I have some sleep under my belt, I will be making a very angry phone call. The new meds I was given I'm trying to give a few weeks to try to make sure. I did find out something interesting. The overproduction of bile that he suggested may be causing the upper belly swelling and pain, could be a side affect of taking the antacids. I found several medical studies about it. I have random attacks of anger towards all medicines. After my hysterectomy I was on so many different kinds. I just dumped them all! Now I realise It may be the best thing to do again. However... my stomach was really bad when they did the endoscopy. I think i should double check that it is "better". I just don't know if I have the heart to go through another procedure to come out with "your fine" on the other side, even though I'm obviously not!

Karla I am sorry you are getting so screwed around! how to fix this problem, hmmmm.... damn all I can say is to give you support and tell you I agree with you, it sucks to be informed when it reduces your trust in doctors, but I still choose to be as informed as possible. I am praying you can get someone to listen to you soon. This sucks lady!

You know, I don't think I've ever heard anyone get any positive test from a sigmoidoscopy. I think a colonoscopy is probs the best bet. And my problems are when my bowels are full and blocked, not when they've been unnaturally emptied so they can see what's going on! Ughh. Frustrating to say the least. Don't stop til you feel well!

thanks for the support guys! And hells, you said a mouthful there. I agree that colonoscopy is better (they did one but forgot to get biopsys) and Its definitely when my bowels are misbehaving not when they are sparkly clean from a bowel prep. ARGH! I guess we should all stop eating and do bowel preps once a week.
