Would going on a progestin only pill help with some of the menopausal symptoms without throwing estrogen into your body? I have no idea if it would help or not, but just throwing it out there.

Progesterone cream... not pill form. BUT no I can't do that either, if something happens and I 'go crazy' or whatever we could do the lightest dose of estrogen and progesterone. I just don't want to run the risk.

Why can't you use the progesterone cream out of curiosity? I did a bit of looking around, I do see that some people on Lupron will take norethindrone (progestin only pill) to help with the side effects. Is there some type of risk I am missing here relating to endo since there is no estrogen?

Progesterone can convert to estrogen in the absense of true estrogen. I'm still thinking about trying the cream. (see the estrogen thread) BUT there are many risks in estrogen use, cancer, blood pressure, etc... I don't think its worth it.

[glow=red,2,300]Crazy B*tch Alert[/glow] I hurt, I'm still peeing constantly, I'm tired because of getting up so many freakin' times to go sit on the toilet and 'not do anything' or do very little. I think my kidney is enflamed because it hurts, hurts, hurts. My mood has been going from angry, to crying in 0-60 seconds! I think I should find a hole and crawl into it but I've just spent to much time sick and can't do it anymore.

If your kidney is affected, I think that's a sign of something more serious or that the infection has spread. Please see your doc again, or go to the ER!

Okay so tommorow is the end of the dose of antibiotics. I keep hoping for relief from the pain but I'm starting to wonder if that is going to happen. When I saw my path report and saw how quickly that endo grew last time I was in AWE. I know there is still so much in their, and so much that didn't get removed. I just hope my bladder doesn't continue to do what its doing, and at least I could sleep longer then a few hours at a time. Last night in sheer desperation I took a double dose of pyridium and tylenol and 800 mg. of ibuprofen and got five whole hours of sleep. It was great!! I have never had sleeping problems and my hubby and I were discussing two things yesterady... 1. When is there a point that you just live with the pain because there just doesn't seem to be much to do about it? Like in the case of the bowel/bladder resections that leave long term problems. 2. If I started taking sleeping pills would I pee myself or is the urgency in my bladder only a sensation without a control function.?

It could be referred pain due to lack of hormone. When I was on the high-progestin b.c. pill, I had insane bladder pain. I went for a scope to see if it was I.C. It wasn't. When I stopped the pill, the bladder pain subsided gradually over time. I seriously used to not want to drink anything, knowing I would eventually have to pee! I had all the symptoms of bladder infections but no bacteria. It was all from the low estrogen.
This may be something you're going to have to deal with. Maybe you could ask your doctor for a sample of the Premarin vaginal cream and just put some on your finger and put it vaginally to see if it helps? Basically, my "bladder" pain wound up being referred pain from vaginal atrophy from low estrogen. Make sense? It might be worth discussing.

I had a friend suggest the 'vaginal atrophy' as well. She had a hysterectomy and is on progesterone cream and premarin both. I really don't want to risk the premarin or progesterone. It might be that its a case of the first question which is, is the bladder pain worth the risk of the endo continuing to grow. *sigh* I rather suspect you and my friend may be right. I don't know what I'm going to do.

so i'm doing some research on the Vaginal Atrophy and it does seem to match my symptoms. I also found some none hormonal solutions. Vitamin E suppostitories seems to be the biggest one! I have to wait until i'm 'healed' down there and then I will be trying that to see if it helps. A lot of women have recommended the vit. and it is a natural non hormone solution.

ha! I just found the 'best' treatment of vaginal atrophy. I underlined my favorite part ;D
quote from mayo clinic
"A water-soluble vaginal lubricant also can be used to moisten the tissues and prevent painful sexual intercourse. Regular sexual activity also can help to prevent symptoms. This is because sexual intercourse improves blood circulation to the vagina, which helps to maintain vaginal tissue. "
two more weeks and I can have all the sex I want and I bet it will help. LOL!
