I ran across this and figured it'd be good to post as many of our members are searching for a diagnosis, and many of us can attest that it's not so easy to be diagnosed with endo. The following is a list of conditions that mimic some symptoms of endo that can also cause chronic pelvic pain (from "Living Well With Endometriosis: What Your Doctor Doesn't Tell You... That You Need to Know" by Kerry-Ann Morris). Attachments:

Thanks for posting this. On the one hand it's handy to have a list of causes of pelvic pain that are not endometriosis and on the other it helps to see why doctors don't find it easy to diagnose the cause of pain! In some cases women can have two or more reasons for their pain and it becomes more complicated after childbearing when there can be anatomical injuries. Many of the conditions on the list are treatable.

I should also add (before someone else beats me to it) that some women have one or more of these conditions in addition to endo. That further complicates things, doesn't it?
(I'll work on trying to get the attachment to come up at a normal size...)

Maui wowie. I had no idea there was something called "abdominal migraine," or even what that is.

Abdominal migraines usually only affect kids aged 5-9. They can begin in childhood and continue into adulthood.

I had to research it. It's pretty weird. Apparently, a good percentage of children who suffer this go on to have migraines in adulthood.

My Gynaecologist is actually running a study on Chronic Pelvic Pain, though they seem to more be looking at Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (which I don't have). It involved filling out a long questionnaire and having a cystoscopy when they did my Lap. Will be interesting to see what they find out, if anything, with this research.

www.prweb.com/releases/2012/5/prweb9431972.htmHere's an article about an adhesion disorder AND how it can sometimes be misdiagnosed as endo. This is why we don't advocate taking drugs like Lupron without a lap and an endo diagnosis. This is another cause of pelvic pain.
