soo yesterday was the LONGEST day of my life. I went to the doctor for a yeast infection ( YI) and a UTI, pee'd in a cup and sat in the doctors room for a bit. She came in and talked to me for awhile yada ya.. she asked me if there was a chance i could be pregnant, I told her it was HIGHLY unlikely, but hell anything is possible right?!?! so after she confirmed my YI she had a pregnancy test run on the urine they had. The nurse came in with a HUGE grin on her face and stated that i WAS pregnant. I immediately broke down into tears(not tears of joy either) pretty much went hysterical. They told me it was a faint second line, but they could definitely see it so they wanted to get blood work done to confirm. So still sobbing i try and call my hubby on my iphone, i was so distressed that i dropped it on the cement and broke it so i had no way of getting a hold of him! I went and gave blood and they told me that the results would come back between 4-24 hours ( nice window huh) so ontop of finding out im possibly pregnant, unable to treat my YI until its confirmed, dropping my $300 phone and having to give blood ( which i am really really afraid of) my day was ruined. Needless to say that around 5pm i get a phone call saying my blood work came back NEGATIVE and that i wasn't pregnant. Hmmmmmmmmm... how can one be positive and the other one be negative? someone help me out here. I've been trying to read online about how rare false positive tests are and that it could possibly be a tubal preggo ( common with endo women i guess) so i called the doctor to ask, and they pretty much told me no they don't think its possible and that the blood work is usually correct so just to stick with " your not pregnant stop worrying about it " I believe im suppose to get my period soon, within a week or so and its possible that some of the symptoms im experiencing are due to that, such as sore/swollen boobs, painful/irritated bladder, painful bowel movements, consipation, no interest in food and acne.. sigh, any ideas ladies? similar exeperiences??? Sorry this is so long!! Thanks, Julie

Ouchy, haven't you had faint lines on pregnancy tests due to corpus luteum (sp?) cysts? Refresh my memory - how long ago was it since you went of lupron? Is your body still adjusting, perhaps to account for some of the symptoms? Whatever the case, perhaps you might want to retest in a week or so just to put your mind at ease!
So sorry you had such a rough day! Hugs, kiddo!

I have had very faint positives due to what I believe to be a corpus luteum cyst--but those are pretty rare. This wasn't a "false" positive, because there is always a little hCG in our system. Sometimes teh super-sensitive tests pick it up. It detected it. It just wasn't from a pregnancy in my case. (This whole paragraph is about my faint +.)
And jjuls, tubal pregnancies are MUCH more common from things like chlamydia or gonorrhea and not from having endo.
I say, take an HPT with first-morning urine in a few days. Either way it turns out, I hope you get the answer you want.

I did have a sort of simliar. All my pregnancy test were very faint. But I had a blighted ovum. I started bleeding ten weeks later. Basically your body grows a placenta but no baby. I copied this from emedicine. Don't worry it doesn't mean your pregnant although If you had a blighted ovum its usually from an encounter with sperm.. In other words. you could get pregnant in the future so if you might need to reconsider your birth control methods.
Blighted ovum. Blighted ovum is common — the cause of about half of all miscarriages that occur in the first 12 weeks. It occurs when a fertilized egg develops a placenta and membrane but no embryo. emedicine

And there is also a "chemical pregnancy," which I've had, where the test picks it up but then you lose it.
The fact that you had both pregnancy tests on the same day makes me curious. Maybe the nurse misread the dipstick one.

^Like maybe she misread it as positive? Or got yours confused with someone else's? The blood test is supposed to be more sensitive. I'm guessing since they were going off a + dip that they ordered betas for you, which shows the actual hCG numbers quantatatively (spelling?) rather than qualitatively.

Yeah, The blood test is the 'right one' so to speak. I'm thinking there was a mix up somewhere and they proabably tried to cover their butts by ordering the blood test. Like they switched pee or something hinky!

The blood test is accurate but since you haven't had your period yet I'd just be cautious until it comes. Keep an eye on it! If it's late then I think testing again would be a good idea. I'm sorry you had such a bad day. I know how it feels to be hysterical from getting a false positive. Refer to my "missed period, pregnancy scare" thread so make yourself feel better. LOL it's an embarrassing story.

Yes, and when you re-test, make sure you read the instructions properly!! I'm STILL giggling about that, Jenaya!

If whatever they did came out negative, it could be bacterial vaginosis or something. Did the doctor do a pH test?
