I have a friend who has endo. She gets pain with her period but that's it. She did have extensive endo, fibroids and major surgery. I however had only a tiny amount but pain all month long. We've been talking since she has it too and she knows I'm on the diet.
She comes over today and says that I should eat everything and not worry. So I say that the diet has been helping and I will not go back to eating everything because yesterday I was in alot of pain and it may be because I ate doritos and cheetos.
She starts saying that I should try this and that. We get to lupron and I say I am not ready to try it yet because I can't deal with those side effects. I just started a new pill so let's see if that works first. When I was on the pill before I had major side effects.
She goes down the its all in your head thing. Not because she didn't have any side effects on lupron does not mean I won't. I am at the point where I wish people would keep their suggestions to themselves.
My boyfriend does not understand why I get pissed off when people say things like this. Its just that people make me feel like I'm doing this to myself. I am not lying when I say that some things that are supposed to make you feel better make me feel worse. ugh! I dunno why I let people get to me.

yeah seriously, a fellow endo girl should be a little more understanding. Some of us just have different symptoms.

I say good for your for doing what makes YOU feel better! If she keeps it up, perhaps the two of you can agree that she can tell you "I told you so" if you decide to follow her advice at some point down the road, but let you do your own thing and see where you end up. That might at least shut her up a bit! On another note, though, we're all quick to share what has worked for us, and we can only HOPE that others may succeed with things we've tried so I can kind of see why she's coming across the way she is. Just goes to show that everyone is quite different with how this disease affects them!!

Yeah, I understand. I have a friend that doesnt even have endo and she thinks that "she knows it all". My friend had to have a lap done to remove scar tissue from where she had her last baby and she thinks she knows what I am going through. But yet she doesn't understand at all. She thinks and same with most of my family that I need to just suck it up and deal with the pain. But then I have my mother in law who had it and ended up having a hysterectomy (I think I spelled that wrong sorry). She is totally understanding about it all.

Hey Hurtz - love the username - I just went in this week to a new doc - and you can share this with your 'friend' - he told me that the people with the most extensive endometriosis have the least amount of pain, but the people with the less visible endo have more pain. He says the reason is not understood, but its just a part of this wonderful condition. - Keep on the diet - its made a huge difference in my pain levels! - and Olsenka is totally right - do what works for you

Can you tell your DR from me that this his theory on pain is ridiculous! if i ad not have been diagnosed i would ahve wanted to die from the pain i had every single day... op revealed severe intestinal endometriosis.

Yeah, I have horrible pain, all month long and i have stage iv so that doctor is a moron. In 'taking charge of your health a complete reference to Endo" it does state that some people with minimal stage 1-2 have just as bad of pain as stage 4. It does not however state this as a conclusive fact, just that this is a perculiarity of the disease.
