My husband and I decided that I'm going to labor at home for as long as possible. I plan on using self-hypnosis as my only form of pain relief during labor. I've read that many women become so relaxed they have no idea how far along they are and only realize that they are really going to have the baby when they are at 9 or 10 cm and the baby is crowning. We agreed that if this happens, my husband will deliver the baby at home, I'll nurse, and then we'll take the baby to the hospital for a check-up.
One of my friends said that a lady whe works with was soooo relaxed at home during her contractions that by the time she got to the hospital she was 10cm! She went home in less than a day and brought her baby to work the next day to show her off!
If only my baby flips around and isn't still lying on her side when it comes time!

I am also having contractions Ouchy. Not as frequentas you but a few a day. They told me as long as I am not having more then 5 an hour it is ok. They also told me that when it happens it is best to put your feet up and drink a lot of water. I guess it helps to stop the contractions.
I have also been getting cramps as if I am about to start my period, my Dr. also told me it was normal as long as there is no leakage or bleading happening.
I don't know if that hepls at all, but when you were talking about your issues in earlier posts it made me feel better that someone else was having similar problems, and their Dr. also said it was ok.
My husband and I have already decided on no pain meds. I really want to do this all natural and am going to get a doula to help with pain management. I do want to have her in a hospital though because I am afraid of complications.

I can't wait until you have your babies, aladiana! That is so exciting! Endo-Resolved's first set of twins! I had my second "fetal non-stress test" today. I was determined to get her through it as quickly as possible, so I had a good long pep talk with my fetus before the monitoring began. LOL! I guess it worked, because today she did SOOOO well! (I think all the super-cold water I drank during the test helped, too!) She moved almost the entire time! My OBGYN was happy and told me that she did so perfectly that her print-out could be in a text book. He pointed to different parts of the print-out and said that they are snapshots of health. OKAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY if she is THAT healthy, why the heck are we monitoring her every few days! GRRRRRRRRRRr! This is what scares me! Tomorrow, I have another diagnostic ultrasound. SHe went from measuring 5% to 17% to 10%. If she's back down to 5% tomorrow...my OBGYN wants to take her! If she is this healthy and swimming/kicking around so much, I don't think I will let him take her! If she is in trouble, sure. But not just because she is measuring a week behind! And I still don't see how a week behind leaves her at just 10% growth! Anyway, everyone please keep your fingers crossed that she goes up in percentile for growth tomorrow. I don't want to have to fight off over-eager-to-deliver doctors for the last few weeks. HUGS.

Thanks, minnie! Your finger crossing worked! She was measuring 22%! Maybe they mis-measured last time. Who knows. The good news is that this is now the 3rd perinatologist who thinks she is small due to genetics and not some anomaly. More good news is that I got the doctor to write in his recommendations that I only need to go in for the non-stress tests once a week instead of twice a week (unless, of course, she quits moving or something)! Yayyyyyy! So, I have one more diagnostic ultrasound scheduled in 3 weeks, and then she'll likely be here right after that! That will be 37 weeks. Yayyyy! Things are looking up!

When my mom had my brothers (btw, she's 4'11" with a short waist ), she delivered 4 weeks early. The boys were close to 5 pounds each, but their lungs weren't developed. Their cry was so weird. It was more of an "aah ah ah ah" ...it sounded more like an alarm clock than a cry. Very strange. They were also so skinny and scrawny. My grandma said that they looked like Ethiopian babies. LOL. They were jaundiced and spent the first couple weeks in a light box w/ blindfolds at our house. They were in the NICU for just a few days, though. Other than that, they were pretty healthy. I really hope that you will make it as long as possible! I think it is sick how with multiples doctors just take them out at arbitrary times where I live! There is a girl I know who is going to have triplets, but the doctor will take them out at 32 weeks! What's up with that? ?? Obviously they are going to be small being in triplicate, but to take them out that early!!!! Why take them out at all? Why not let her carry until her water breaks and give them the best chance? I guess I turned this post in to a rant. I wish you the best, and I'm glad your husband is a doctor. He really will have your best at heart and that of the babies. He won't let them do anything stupid to you. A big hug!

HUHUUUU! I have now gained about 13 pounds from the time I got pregnant. (I lost about 10 during the first part of my pregnancy, so I don't know whether to count that or not. I like the ring of 13 pounds rather than 23, though. LOL!)

One of my friends had her baby at 27 weeks! She was tiny wee and only 2 pounds and 2 ounces and dropped to below 2 pounds initially. It was very touch and go but she made it and is now a very healthy and happy little bundle who is now 5 months but at at 6 weeks development size! her name is Skye - there's another name for the name thread

Oooh! Forgot to tell you guys this. I thought I was feeling my heartbeat in my stomach. LOL! The pulses I felt matched up with my pulse on the side of my neck. However, during one of my mannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnny recent ultrasounds, the sonographer said, "Can you feel that? Your baby has hiccups!" Allllllll this time I thought it was somehow my heartbeat! My baby has hiccups several times a day, each day! The sonographer said that it helps strengthen the baby's lungs. I lovvvvvve feeling her little hiccups!

I am doing Ok, been real sick and having quite a few problems. But everything seems to be doing a lot better now. I am almost 30 weeks pregnant and so excited. I am actually getting over walking Pnemonia right now. Ouchy, my Dr. is counting my weight gain from my original weight. Since I too lost weight in the beginning they did not start counting weight gain till I was back to where I started so 13 pounds is probably more accurate. I had my first 3D ultrasound this past Monday, I was so exciting to see and she looks so much like my husband. I am jealous I was also told she weighs 2 lb 13 oz and is in the 60 percetile so she is measuring big and my uterus was measuring in at 29 1/2 cm when it should be 28 so I too am measuring big. So maybe she will come a little early, if not I will be having a big baby! As of 29 weeks preggy I have also gained 13 pounds, I am happy that I have been able to maintain a healthy weight and not gain too much.

Yayyyy, tiff! You are here!!!! Quick thought: Ignore the PM I sent you about the baby clothes on e-bay. It was relisted or something and the price is sky high now! Grrr! Awesome on your conservative weight gain as well, especially with her measuring above average! Hiccups. I THOUGHT I was feeling my heartbeat in my stomach! I'd asked my friends, and they all said that they coudl feel their heartbeat in their stomach. I dismissed it as feeling my heartbeat. However, during a diagnostic ultrasound, the sonographer asked me if I could feel that pusling--that my baby was having hiccups! My "heartbeat" matched up with the hiccups we could also see on the screen! Alllll that time I thought it was my heartbeat! She has hiccups many times per day! At least 4 or 5. Sometimes when I wake in the middle of the night she even has them! LOL! The sonographer said that the hiccups help the lungs develop.
