Love that my dad, being asian and a very caring man, assumed he could mould me into becoming a doctor! That is so 'asian dad' of him! And the huge asian family... he has 8 daughters and one son, and yes he has that many kids cos he wanted a boy! LOL yeah thats one sterotype... now ur remining me of "goodness gracious me" All asian parents want their kids to be doctors/engineers..and if one was to turn towards ART..hell would break loose ;D Theres another stereotype with asian people..where ever they find a corner they open up a corner shop ;D

Yah. I guess that's true! My father is also Asian, and he was pissed when I was thinking of switching majors from pre-med. He got over it, though, but only bc it was in another medical-type field. LOL

Oh you'll be happy to know that my dad is pleased that I eventually got round to studying building surveying, I just told them to say I'd be a doctor of buildings and he was happy enough with that haha. He loooves animals and natural history, so he'd have loved for me to be a vet too, animal doctor haha The whol taboo arts thing, that reminds me ofa film called 'East is East' and the westernised son making a woman's naked lap for his art project, his mum who was white said something like 'Don't be bringing that fanny into my 'ouse!' Over here fanny is slang for a woman's bits. This plastic fanny, complete with pubic hair, ended up in the lap of a visiting prospective mother in law. It has to be seen, really good film. I love it xx

Have you watched Harold and Kumar Go to WhiteCastle? I think in the UK it was titled something different.

I haven't no, but I have to say there is a different perception of Asians here than what is portrayed in America. I woulsn't mind my sisters marrying nice polite American Asian boys, but I don't like the boys that live near to my dad's place. Another stereotype there, they are perfectly respectful, polite good muslim boys at home... but outside they are spitting, swearing, smoking little drunkards who believe they are god's gift! My baby brother better not grow up like that! xx

I love it xx Cherry i was abt to mention that film..but though i'd add some links to clips that can be watched. Talking abt the sterotype the one scene that comes to mind is that of George asking Salim where his suit was and how did he expect to become and engineer dressed like a hippie ;D ..Salim had lied to his dad..like u have mentioned he was studying ART and then made that awful pink sculpture with lots of hair on it.. The ending was so funny when it landed on that womans lap..
