Hi, I am new to this site-looking for info on the topic. Here's my story; I am scheduled for a diagnostic lap next week. I live in Canada and have been on a waiting list for exactly 1 year for this proceedure. I am getting this done to confirm that this is endo. I have three small kids.(My gyn said being on the pill for so long and pregnancy could have masked symptoms for years). I had incapacitating pain last year at this time for 2 weeks. The first day I did not go to hospital because I could not move from a fetal position. The second day I went to emerg at the local general hospital and first was sent home with Tyl #3 and no answers, a female doctor saw me and ruled out tubal pregnancy and sent me home doped up an dsaid I probably had period pain. Later that afternoon when the Tyl #3 did no good, I saw another doctor who testing me thoroughly, ultrasound, blood, urine, Xrays....conluded that it may be a burst cyst and shot me up with demerol and gave me prescription for percoset. So there I lay high for two weeks in bed, still in pain, but not caring(luckily my husband was able to take time off work to watch kids). I have since been taking prescription pain meds on "bad days", which are increasingly more days bad than good. I am hoping that the lap will resolve my fears and eventually lead to pain free days in my future. Thanks for this site! Lesli

Hi, Lesli! Welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry that you have been on a waiting list so long for this diagnostic lap! My friend from Canada is always touting the medical system there; I guess she never had to wait on a list for something, though! When you are in so much pain, waiting a full year can't be a fun thing!
Best wishes, and I hope you find resolution soon! ~ouchy

Hi Lesli, I'm sorry for you're pain, But i understand you completely.
I live in Canada to and i going for a lap on Monday 6 march. I've been waiting for 9-10 month. same thing happened to me. My mom asked the doctor to put me on birth control because of my heavy bleeding. was on depot provera for 2 1/2 years and many pills to.
Doctor said the same thing.
Instead of taking tyl #3 and get a high, i take 2 tyl #1 and 1 Advil extra strength.
The Advil help with the inflammation so you don't need so much codeine. I hope this help. I don't have any kids and i can't imagine taking care of one when i take my oxycocets either.

Welcome, Leslie. I am sooo sorry for the pain and wait you have had to go through. That has to be very miserable, especially with 3 kids. Lucky you have a good hubby. I hope the laproscopic will help you. I'm sure you will feel like a whole new person. Good luck. Lynette

Thanks for the support! Well, it depends where you live in Canada, I guess. I lived in Toronto for ten years, and the health system is wonderful if you are in a large city. However, I now have a different perspective as I have just returned a few years ago to a rural area and the doctors are few and the waiting lists are long! Lesli

Hi, Great to hear from a fellow Canadian! Where abouts are you? I hope all goes well tommorow for you! Let me know how it goes. Thanks for the pain med advice. I have percacet(not while watching kids, and have only ever taken for 2 weeks when it was really bad), Indomethacin and another I cannot recall. I do take Advil on low pain days, or just bear through 'cause I need to take care of kids, drive to activities, etc. Talk Soon, Lesli

Well i survived i guess.
After 2 weeks I'm still in allot of pain, found suture inside my vagina. Don't know what happened there and i can't get a hold of my doctor.
They found endo behind my uterus and on my bladder and tubes from my bladder to my kidneys.
I'm going to see my doctor in April to know more.
