Hi Ladies,
I'm sorry I have not been around. My husband and I have been trying for a year and I was getting so obsessive that I just had to check out for a while.
Here's where I am at: In February my gyno referred me to a fertility specialist. I had the tube test in December and it looked good so after two more months without getting pregnant and with cramps getting worse, he agreed that I needed some fertility assistance. March and April we tried IUI with clomid. The headaches were so bad that this month my doc decided we should move on. Today is day three of my first IVF cycle! I am really happy - I have had a gut feeling all along that this was the help that I need. My body is just funky - I have regular cycles, I ovulate, I grew good follicles on clomid, my husbands sperm is a-ok, I just can't make that connection. I think that I have too much scar tissue/ adhesions for the process to work. So I am happy to bypass this part of the process.
I am happy to read a few of us are pregnant!! And here's to putting some faith in modern medicine for me!!

Hi all, I went to my first IVF consult yesterday. Was waiting to hear that it wouldn't work but it seems like all systems are go, from what I can see. Here is what the consult was like: Met with the doctor and my husband. Had a short pelvic exam and internal ultrasound. Located ovary, uterus, etc all in correct places for needles, etc to reach. Doc inserted a strange pink object into my cervix to check that it was wide enough. It was, but it was a tight fit and he will probably insert a stent to stretch it out! (!) Then we talked through all the drug treatments, timing, etc. It is a whole big crazy enterprise, with a lot of hormones and shots, but I think I want to give it a shot. Finally my husband gave a sperm sample and it was confirmed that he has very good sperm. I have had stage 4 endo excised and I am hoping to become pregnant but I know IVF is like the lottery and not everyone wins. I am just going to update this thread when I get new info or have a dr. appt so other endo ladies can share my progress. I am in my late 30's and have never been pregnant. I have known about endo only for a few years but I'm confident I've done my best to get the correct treatments. I follow a diet similar to the endo diet on this board. Thanks for reading this, I'll update it soon! The next step is an AMH or anti-mullerian hormone test this afternoon but it takes a week to get results.... Will update then. Thanks!

What is the anti-mullerian hormone test? I'm not familiar with that.

It is the form of testing they use now to estimate your potential fertility. They used to do a day 3 FSH test but it was so variable, it didn't tell them enough. The AMH is a hormone produced by the granulosa cells of the early developing antral follicles. These are the immature eggs that wake up from their dormant state and develop into mature eggs. As a woman runs out of eggs, the number of these small antral follicles decline in number and as a result the serum Anti-Mullerian hormone falls. This is why serum Anti-Mullerian hormone testing is a good estimate of residual egg number www.repromed.com.au/custom/files/AMH%20Information%20Sheet%20for%20Doctors%203.4.09.pdf

Well I got my results. They are very poor. Now I'm really not sure I want to do this. If my results had been good I'd have been excited to try, but with my score (.16) at the low end of the "poor responders" spectrum, I'm not sure this is a good idea. Oh well. The woman who called me asked if I'd consider a donated egg. To me, that's just the same as adoption, and I really like the idea of adoption! so for me I'd rather adopt than carry someone else's fetus. Why not just adopt a person already born? But, I'm still glad I pursued it this far, or I'd never have known!

Hmm, well, that doesn't sound so good. Sorry. Is this a number that can change, or is it a number that's always declining?

It is unfortunately a declining number. I wonder if having only one ovary is cutting my number in half.... hmmmm..... will post more when I have processed the bad news. IVF is a monster of a thing to even consider. Having considered and accepted it as an option, it's a little bit like having a giant present you didn't really want taken away. Sort of a trip, really.

I'm sorry about the news I agree with you on the adoption. I definitely think it's a wonderful thing to adopt a child that is already here and wanting a family. Definitely take lots of time to let this news sink in. I wish you tons of luck!
