Hi, MissMel. Did your doctor describe the "natural blockage" of the tube to you--did it get damaged as a result of an injury? Tubes most often become blocked due to past bacterial infections (usually STD's--chlamydia, gonorrhea, etc.) that went untreated (most often, because there are no symptoms)--this blockage resulting from a past bacterial infection could also be considered a "natural blockage" process. Did your doctor say where in the tube the blockage is? I'm assuming you had a dye injected into the uterus and followed by either an x-ray or direct viewing during a laparocopy to see whether or not any dye went into the pelvic cavity? Dye flushing is the only way to tell the tube is patent (open). If you only have one functioning tube, you should still be able to conceive, as your ovaries take turns ovulating. You should still be ovulating, and with the patent tube, you should be able to conceive. My mother had scar tissue in a tube, and she never wound up w/ a tubal pregnancy or anything and wound up having twin boys and me. Good luck w/ everything

Oh. They also do laser surgeries now to remove the scar tissue in tubal blockages.

How can he say it is blocked now, before running a dye test??? I think he may be guessing that it is blocked.

He would be able to see endo on the outside of the tubes and ovaries...but he wouldnt' be able to see inside the tubes. I even asked a fertility specialist about that when I went with one of my friends to her appointment. The reproductive endocrinologist asked her if her tubes were blocked. She said she wasn't sure. I reminded her and her doctor that she had a lap for endo and asked if the doc. would have been able to tell from that, during the surgery. The RE told me that nothing related to patency can be told w/out contrast dye, even during a lap.

somehow he did find the tube to be blocked in the lap...in my first lap my gyno found the blocked tube and then she sent me to my current fertilty dr...he did my last lap...he found little bits of endo and determined then that my tube was also blocked...he did not seem alarmed by it...i am hoping the hsg shows it is clear! that would be great. like i said i think it is otherwise...

Who, knows! Maybe your doctor did the dye during your lap! That is actually common w/ some docs. I think it is the best time...that way you get it over with all at once

Hi Guys, So I had a follow up from my first lap yesterday. While I had my laproscopy, they also did a hysterscopy to check my tubes. I have a history of ectopic pregnancy. It turns out both my tubes are blocked. The dye did not travel up through either tube. It apparently went up somewhat into my left but not all the way. I am not ready for pregnancy, maybe in a few years. But I felt pretty discouraged after this news. Basically told they could try to do recanlization of the tubes with about a 30% success rate of pregnancy afterwords. Or IVF. But once again this wouldn't be for another few years. I was reading about natural remedies "clear passage" or these herbal tampons treatments for unblocking tubes Does anyone know about this? I suppose it might be worth trying? I'm feeling quite taken aback by all this. I just always thought I would be able to have babies with no problems. No other women in my family have ever had problems with endo or infertility. I don't think this is all sinking in entirely. What can I do now to help my chances later? I just don't know.

If both tubes are blocked, pregnancy on your own would obviously be a challenge. But if you're able to get at least one of them open, it'd be possible to conceive on your own. Have you read "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Wexler?
Oh, and there's also a thread about clear passages. PM me if you can't find it. I haven't heard about herbal tampons... I'd be a bit leery of those unless you're absolutely sure they're reputable.
Anyone else have a similar experience with blocked tubes?
